3) Carl Hooper (nonchalant strokemaker, incredible timing, astonishing arm strength)

4) Aravinda de Silva (the maestro, excellent holding batsman who could cut loose any time)

5) Roger Twose (unusual choice, but one of NZ's most consistent and depndable batters ever)

Among current batsmen:

1) Hershelle Gibbs (same description as Mark Waugh)

2) Kumar Sangakkara (off-side strokes great to watch)

3) Sachin Tendulkar (simply the best)

4) Jacques Kallis (solid defense, brutal when he cuts loose, and how consistent can you get?)

5) Kevin Pietersen and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (unorthodox, but effective)

Tendulkar's the best he has scored so many runs, in test and ODI's and he has won so many matches for India, Ponting and Lara are very close behind Tendulkar. Then there's a big gap between 3rd and 4th, 5th. Dravid and Sangakarra are great players BUT they haven't performed well enough in both forms of the game to be close enough with the Top3
