Mine are

1. Ruffian; she never lost a race and would have won her match race if she hadn't broke down and she started a big woman's rights movement

2. Secretariat; he won by amazing lengths and spectacular times he was also on Times magazine

3. Native Dancer; he was grey, most people think that grey horses race bad and he won good races and sired many good horses he was on Times magazine

  1. There are so many that I like,Smarty Jones because I was there when he won the Kentucky Derby and Barbaro too.I like Evening Attire because he is 10 and still races and I love Dreaming of Anna because she has so much heart.

  2. Secretariat: for the same reasons

Eight Belles: her greatness was, I believe, just emerging but was cut short by her tragic breakdown, as was Ruffian's.

Curlin: maturing greatness beyond the 3-year old threshold.

  3. at present takeover target..... he's a 9yo, still racing, in his last 3 starts all group1 races, he has 1 win, 1 second and a forth, not bad for a 9yo!

what makes him so special is the fact no-body wanted to buy him at the yearling sales, because he was supposed to have bad knees, but a taxi driver from canberra ended up buying him for a mere $1250, he's now won over 5 million in prizemoney! he's won group1 races in both hemispheres and 4 different countrys!

one of my previous favourites was a mare..... sunline, she was a freak she conquered all in australia hong kong and new zealand

  4. 1. cougar 2nd.....just feel in love with him back in 1972....

    2. secretariat......his records still stand to this day.....

    3. ancient title.....never got beat at 7 furlongs with sandy hawley riding....

  5. i not going with the rest i liked john henry he was like a person he liked who he liked he was mean at times . but a great horse  he had persoality

  6. uhoomagoo, he used to race in england. i love him

  7. There are so many great memories over the years it is hard to choose...but her goes nothing...

    1. Secretariat....it's easy to look at his record winning times in the Derby and Belmont...but I actually was more impressed with his race in the Preakness where he passed all his rivals in the first turn with a burst of speed that I have never seen again, he went from 12 lengths back to first in one turn!!  Not to mention that he was still able to hold off a very good horse, Sham, whose own time in the Derby was faster than the previous record!  The perfect equine specimen!

2.Tie     Personal Ensign...AND  Ruffian  Personal Ensign..13 wins in 13 starts including beating the boys in the grade 1 Whitney Handicap...she also is one of the greatest broodmares of all times, bringing us such greats as MY FLAG, OUR EMBLEM,  MINERS MARK AND TRADITIONALY.  Ruffian undefeated in races she finished and never behind at any call in her career!!

    3. Barbaro...partly for his great abilities on the race track and partly for the advances that he brought to the world of Equine Medicine...many horses will be saved from the lessons learned from this Derby Champion.

    4.  Lost in the Fog...as game a horse as I have ever seen...litterally ran his opponents into the ground, breaking their hearts!  Won a grade one race, while carrying a tumor the size of a football inside him!!  One of the greatest sprinters that we have ever seen!

5.Native Dancer...a nose shy of the Triple Crown, losing the Derby in a race that was described as having the jockey ridden him everywhere except to the concession stand for a hot dog, and still only losing by a nose!  His bloodline can be found in most great horses today!

    6. Northern Dancer....too short to win....that's what they said, before he beat them and most other challengers!  Another of the great sires of all time.

    7.  Nearco...no other horse has had as big an effect on racing as this Italian racer.  His grandsons include, Bold Ruler (sire of Secretariat, GGrand sire of Seattle Slew etc), Northern Dancer (sire of Storm Bird, Danzig, Dixieland Band etc) Turn-to (sire of Sir Gaylord), Icecapade, Fleet Nasrullah, Grey Sovereign and many other great horses and sires.  It is almost impossible to find a thoroughbred today that does not contain his bloodline!

    8. Smarty Jones....everybodys horse! His elderly owner on Oxygen, a hard luck, jockey rode him, an everday trainer trained him!!  One length from being a Triple Crown Champion!

    9. Cigar.....16 straight wins against the best horses in the country....a wonderful gentleman of a horse who loves to be petted at his home at the Kentucky Horse Park near Lexington!

    10.  Hoof Hearted.....he gets included just for the engineuity of his owners...hearing the announcer call his races is.....a gas!!!!!

  8. Thats a tough question. Smarty Jones because he won the first race I've ever seen, winning the Derby. But theres Barbaro, I don't think I ever cried so hard when a horse died like I did with him. He was a champion. He ran his races like it didn't bother him. So I guess there is a tie

  9. barbaro; he was a ledgend try to become a triple crown winnner. Then in one heart stoping moment it all changed he was no longer fighting for the crown, but for his life!!!

  10. favorite of all time: Secretariat, greatest race horse to ever live.

favorites of my life time: Ghostzapper he had a short but amazing career, best beyer since they started using that rating.

Smarty Jones he was phenomenal,  and got robbed of the triple crown when the other horses ganged up on him.  i was at belmont that day and if you watch the video on you tube you could actually hear the crowd sigh when he lost.  undefeated up until then. real good career.

and Big Brown he's not done yet.  the best may be yet to come.
