Manos de Piedra, old hands of stone, Roberto Duran, tops my list. Mike Tyson was a bit scary with his naked desire to get his hands on the opponent and he never gave them a moment's peace when the bell rang. Nigel Benn was almost all-aggression at one point in his career and was smart enough to learn to temper it. Following his first loss, to Michael Watson, he went off to the US to rebuild his career and fought people like Fermin Chirinos and Doug de Witt, rock-hard fighters, real tough nuts. Davey "Boy" Green, from Chatteris, was a joy to watch, always looked in great shape and must have broken opponent's hearts with his unquenchable thirst for victory. Last, but by no means least of these, Naseem Hamed, the Prince. What an exciting fighter he was, unorthodox, KO power in either hand and at any range, cheeky, brave and with a vulnerability that he kept hidden until Marco Antonio Barrera found it. One loss in a career like Naseem's is almost negligible when compared to his victories and the pleasure he gave us. Again, a tight family unit looking out for him, advising him, protecting him. Recently, Naseem has had some negative press in this country but the press are not the boxing-loving public and they have a voice, too. I, for just one of that honourable band, applaud his achievements.

I think we would all like to see these guys quitting the ring with a few quid properly tucked away, they are honourable men..
