  1. the peterson brothers, aaron pryor jr. and if you dont know who julio cesar chavez jr. is you will real soon...

  2. There are quite a few; here are some to keep an eye on:

    Devon Alexander

    Andre Direll

    Andre Ward

    Eric Fields

    Yuriorkis Gamboa

    Alfredo Angulo

    Andre Berto

    Juan Manuel Lopez

    Victor Ortiz

    Vanes Martirosyan

    Anthony Peterson

    Lamont Peterson

    Abner Mares

I would have had Andy Lee on here, but not now after his shocking TKO loss to Brian Vera.  If he can defeat Vera convincingly in their rematch, then I will put him back.  And to think that Emmanuel Steward said Lee would be ready for Kelly Pavlik by the end of this year!- He was in for a rude awakening.

To answer Woody's question about what happened to Anthony Direll: Anthony Direll currently is battling cancer and that is the reason why he has not fought in a while.  This was stated on HBO when his brother, Andre beat Curtis Stevens.  God-willing, hopefull he'll pull through it and will be able to resume his promising boxing career.

  3. Ismaikel Pérez aka Mike "el rebellio" Perez., an irish based cuban heavyweight.

it's very early days for him yet (he's only 3-0 2ko's), but  the likes of amir khan's are  closer to contender status than prospect now, and it's more fun and more of a risk picking this kid instead.

  4. Here are 3 i didn't see mentioned yet

    1. Michael Katsidis earned a lot of fans in his loss to Cassamayor. He hasn't fought the elite yet and is still learning but has shown a lot of heart and determination.

    2. Aaron Pryor Jr. - It is always interesting to see a second generation fighter trying to work his way up. He has a long way to go but if he learns to use his heighth I think he could be another Paul Williams

    3. Adrian Diaconu - he was already suppose to fight Chad Dawson once unfortunately he had to stap away due to an injury but he has shown some knock out power and some exciting fights he has a fight with Chris Henry for an interum championship in April.

  5. I love when people ask this becasue your probably going to get at least three amir kahn answers but i don know when they see me say this they might change. But my favorte prospects are the Peterson Brothers Lamont and Anthony these guys have it all and are always on friday night fights if you can check them out please do they are lightweight and the older borhters is jr welterweight these guys are ready for a world title tonight.

  6. Modern young boxers suks!

  7. berto,

    lee despite his loss

    joe greene

  8. I like Andre Berto, He is an up and coming welterweight boxer.

  9. amir khan

  10. Berto is the real deal, Andre Ward is good too.

Thinking about young prospects, it puts on display one of the biggest problems with boxing, and where it could learn something from MMA.  If a good prospect loses a fight early, it sets him back at least 2 years - so they don't really fight anybody for their first 20 or so fights, so you never know who is really good.  There may be really good fighters out there, who took a real test early, lost, and never got another shot.  Or there are the good fighters who build up a big undefeated record, but never really test and then are over their head, I thinking about a guy like Zab, or David Reid.

I think Matt Hughes said something like 'if you've had 30 fights and haven't lost one, you probably aren't fighting anyone whose any good.'

  11. Vanes Martirosyan, The Peterson Brothers, Alfonso Gomez if he keeps improving, Andre Ward although he looked real shaky against Darnell Boone he fought back and won.

LMFAO at people putting Hatton on there, he's almost 30 and has had 44 fights and has even given a time frame to retire, how is he a prospect?

  12. Ricky Hatton.

    xoxo

  13. hatton

    berto

  14. For a moment, middleweights, Dirrell brothers got my attention. Both Andre and Anthony are undefeated, but Anthony's knockouts is what impresses me. Unfortunately, I don't know whatever happened to Anthony Dirrell, since he hasn't fought since 2006. Older brother, Andre is more of a technical fighter than a KO artist, like his brother, Anthony. Andre will have a decent step up in challenge when he takes on Anthony Hanshaw on May 2nd.

    *** ADDITIONAL ***

LMAO @ John H - You're right, John...... the Petersons are on the list as well.

  15. Booiedog85 is right.They all suck.Personally,I wouldn`t bother getting a favorite new young boxer.They are all sissy *******!

  16. julio cesar chavez jr.

  17. STOP SAYING HATTON!!!!  for christ's sake, he's going to retire within a year.  he's neither young nor a prospect.  he's a seasoned veteran and world champion.

    my favorite young prospects are:

    Andre Berto

    Michael Katsidis

    Chris Arreola

    David Haye

    Demetrius Hopkins

    Jason Litzau

  18. Yuri Gamboa, Amir Khan, Victor Ortiz.                                     Keith S your right Hatton is not a prospect hes a world champion he should not be mentioned... David Haye is a world champion he should not be mentioned as a prospect either
