This week Don Imus made headlines when he seemed to imply that it was natural that a black person was arrested six times. He later said that he meant to point out how unfair it was that the police arrested a football player six times just because he was black. Personnaly I don't believe him. Do yoy?

  1. When I first heard the remarks, I wondered about it big-time. Then when I heard the explanation, I went back and heard the remarks again. It's at least quite possible that he is telling the truth. However, he did not express himself well, and that's what you have to do in the communications business.

  2. Of course he meant to imply that it's natural for blacks, at least prior criminals, to be arrested.  His "retraction" was just his attempt to pacify the rabid, scary PC Police headed up by idiots like Sharpton and Jackson.

The way news commentators and Sharpton were discussing this situation frankly left me scared and depressed.  What is this country coming to when someone who is not an elected official has to watch his words so much?  What happened to freedom of speech?  Sharpton referred to Imus's comments as a possible "relapse", as if giving your own view is a relapse.  Sure, his comment about the basketball team was uncalled for, but he was basically telling the truth in this case due to the fact that blacks are arrested more than whites, usually because they actually are committing crimes.

Plus, Howard Stern says racially-based things all the time and no one chastises him for it in the way they're coming after Imus.  One of the funniest things I've heard in the past ten years was Stern's "black dialogue" in dramatizing an imaginary conversation between Steven Spielberg and his black son.

If racist black comedians can stand on stage and make all manner of derogatory, stereotypical comments about white people, why can't Imus do the same about blacks?

  3. Imus wouldn't lie to us~

  4. I wish the man would find some other way to occupy his time.  He should know he will always be a target, and will always be trying to explain anything and everything he ever says.  Surely, he could simply retire with the fortune he already has, and have a great time relaxing, traveling or whatever.

  5. His words weren't misunderstood this time any more than the last time he shot his big mouth off and got fired.

  6. Imus is a funny werewolf-man with a cowboy hat

  7. Considering the source, I think he thought he didn't say anything wrong, he thought he was being sarcastic., which he was.....

  8. how could anyone misunderstand what he said, it was plain english. again, he's in real hot water and he's trying all he can to keep his head above the water, but i think this time he's sinking pretty fast. good riddance.
