  1. No one benefits regarding that matter because its has a negative effect and impact towards us and to our mother nature.

  2. Political forces that want more control over everyone's life.  Resist their power grab.  Fight the hoax.

  3. No. It is not a hoax. It is a scientific fact. Denying global warming is like denying the fact that everything is made of atoms. It is a proven, hard fact. Denying it won't make the problem go away, so we better start acting, fast. We are the biggest threat to the planet that there has ever been. We are destroying it, and we are the most selfish animals to ever walk planet Earth. We destroy everything in sight for a little cash, we eat burgers and chicken nuggets because they taste good, even though we KNOW that the animals were treated horribly. We cut down the rainforest to make room for palm oil trees, and for grazing room for your beef cattle, for highways and cities. We are the biggest invasive species as well. We kick animals out left and right to make room for our species. I think that a lot of people forget that we are animals, and we have a place on this planet... but... SO DOES EVERYTHING ELSE. I don't understand why people think that they have the right to overfish our oceans, (the blue-fin tuna is on the edge of extinction, and 1/3 or the total fish in the WORLD are estimated to be extinct with 10 years) destroy rain forests, drive gas guzzling hummers, keep chetahs as pets, as well as lions. That is also disgusting. When the cheetahs or tigers or lions become to aggressive they have them sent off to zoos, or to be killed because they don't want to 'deal' with them anymore.

Take this for example- I know I am getting off topic, but I will address global warming momentarily- when slavery was in full force, we oppressed the blacks, whipped them, all because we were selfish. We didn't want to do the work, and we decided that we were superior to the blacks. As generations of both races passed through this oppression, people didn't think that it was wrong, they thought that it was the way of life. Eventually some people decided that it was wrong, and they did something about it. That is me. Because we are oppressing all the animals, and all of the environment. All because we are selfish. Most people accept that we are the 'superior' species, and they think that what we are doing is okay. That we have the right to do such a thing. But then there are people like me who know that this is horribly wrong, and I am going to do something about it.

You may think that we are just bettering our species, and that all species' do this, we are just relying on our natural instinct. Well... We have gotten rid of almost everything natural about the human species. We don't rely on natural selection, we are at the top of the food chain, we destroy our own environment, we oppress other animals in our species, (the list goes on and on). The only natural thing we still do is reproduce. Hence OVERPOPULATION.

Global Warming ties in to all of this. Humans feel that it is our right to drive our hummers, and we deny the fact that global warming is real so that we don't have to feel bad about our selfish ways. So that we can continue to be obese and lazy, and drive 1/2 a mile to the store. We deny it so that we don't have to pay our precious money to stop what we have started because... HEY... we are the superior race, aren't we? And how can you deny it. President Bush has finally (finally) addressed it. All the presidential candidates have addressed it and accepted it. All the scientists have accepted it, the one's who aren't paid off.

Humans make me sick. We are selfish, destructive, animals that have no compassion or morals. Have you ever heard of the Amur Leopard? No? Well, there are only 30 left in the wild because of habitat destruction, because of us. The superior race. Now, after all this, do you still think that we aren't a threat to the planet?

  4. Well, as many say that Global warming is a real disadvantage for us. That's true and I totally agree. But as what I have read in NEWSWEEK Apr.16/27, 2003 issue, that Global warming is not all bad. "Smart Cities, Countries and Businesses are already adapting - and cashing in."

    Take this for an example:

Wine Productions boosts in British Columbia.

Shippings in places like Fort Severn, Ontario, become major international seaports.

Biofuel productions, clean, renewable energy boosts Brazil's ethanol producers.

Properties in upstate New York to Nova Scotia to the Scottish highlands will begins to grow home buyers and investors since it will not be chilly and gloomy anymore.

Coffee productions especially in the subtropics, Agentine beans will gain share from Brazilian, etc. competitors.

Baltic Beaches in Iceland will have a business boom.

Fossil Fuels in the Arctic will be easily drilled.

Companies w/ expertise in Desalination Plants are waiting to cash in since China and India will turn to ocean water for drinking.

Western India could finally say goodbye to malaria, dengue and other vector borne ills as the damp conditions mosquito require are replaced by an even hotter but drier climate.

Nambia's sand dunes open up a new sport like sand bourding since there'll be too little snow.

See there are still advantages! Good day!

  5. So you're intentionally posting a duplicate question?

Thanks for the link though, gcnp58's answer was great.

To answer what I think you're trying to ask, China will benefit temporarily:

"The official treaty to curb greenhouse-gas emissions hasn't gone into effect yet and already three countries are planning to build nearly 850 new coal-fired plants, which would pump up to five times as much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere as the Kyoto Protocol aims to reduce.

China is the dominant player. The country is on track to add 562 coal-fired plants - nearly half the world total of plants expected to come online in the next eight years."

That is, China will benefit until their Himalayan-sourced rivers dry up, at which time they will be at war with Vietnam, etc. after they halt downstream flows.

You're completely misunderstanding (or misrepresenting) the NY Times article by the way.  They said carbon wasn't factored into the cost of oil, not that more money should land in the pockets of big oil.  So it's not "it's all about raising prices" as you claim, it's all about mitigating damage.  You didn't get that?

  6. global warmign= the whole world's going to die in x amount of years unless we give scientist more money and invest heavily into new and completely experimental techonology

When GW does happen the strong survive and the weak die off its apart of nature

  7. As with any crisis, man-made or of natural causes, the megalomaniacs will use it to their advantage.

  8. Al Gore and the UN stand to benefit a great deal. Gore from carbon credit trading and the UN by dictating how much carbon you can emit, which pretty much decides everything about your daily life if you think about it.

Lily, how many of us do you think the leopards would keep around if they were in charge and not us? Predators tend to dislike competition from other predators, so humans would be long extinct in that world. Where does this racial self-hatred come from? I really want to know, I see it more frequently every day it seems.

I can deny global warming because the "evidence" is murky, CO2 goes up after the temperature increases, CO2 is not a pollutant, it's a gas essential for life on Earth. They have been predicting mass extinctions for 30 years now and they have yet to occur. There are so many points of contention I can't believe so many people don't see a clear pattern here based on all the prior "chicken little" warnings going back to the 1970s and even earlier.

The people who would benefit from actual global warming number in the billions, nearly everyone on Earth. The last two times it got warmer than it is now were very prosperous times for humans, three times is you go all the way back to the Bronze Age.

Part of the crisis is in energy and that's only a crisis since the US has been prevented from even exploring for oil for decades. We could begin to liquefy coal into oil, process some of our tar sands and oil shale, build new nuclear power plants, but there are always barriers in the way in the form of lawsuits and protests from environmentalists. Now that they have created a crisis, the only solution is to trust them to take care of things thru the UN. No thanks.

"No. It is not a hoax. It is a scientific fact...."

You don't know what facts are, do you? Theories aren't facts.

    Then Lily K said:

    "Humans make me sick."

    That is telling.

I asked on another thread if anyone had any empirical evidence that directly links CO2 to this or any other warming, and you said you would get back to me. So, you have that evidence now? With statements like this one:

"No. It is not a hoax. It is a scientific fact...."

    it seems like you would...
