I know that Richard Branson owned them (although they are now crosscountry), i'd just like to know what company actually built the trains.

  1. As a matter of interest Richard Branson, aka Virgin Trains, does not 'own' any rolling stock. Due to the crazy way the last Conservative Government privatised the railways all rolling stock is owned by leasing companies and the train operating cmpanies merely lease them. Just making more mega-bucks for the city financiers and less to be spent on the actual railways. The Voyagers and Super Voyagers introduced by Virgin Cross Country, now Arriva Cross Country, were built by Bombadier. The Pendolinos used by Virgin West Coast, still operated by Virgin Trains, were built by Alsthom, using Fiat tilting technology.

  2. these guys http://www.bombardier.com/

  3. Bombardier built them, but Virgin don't own any loco's rolling stock they are owned by leasing companies such as angel, which in turn are owned by the banks.

  4. Bombardier, I believe build them.

It's only Virgin Cross Country that is now Cross country, (owned by Arriva)

Virgin West Coast is still Virgin AFAIK

  5. Bombardier Trains, and they were built in Italy, and shipped to this country by ship, I believe.

There were two design suggestions, one like a Intercity 225, the other like the voyager.

But a leasing company owns them, not virgin, though I believe Virgin paid a fair sum for them as they were primarily designed for Virgin, then other operators joined the band wagon.
