Question:

Who can I ask about bengal cats?

My husband and I found a really beautiful kitten under his hood a few weeks ago, and after looking around on the internet, I'm thinking she's a bengal, but I'm not quite sure. Is there someone I can take her to that would be able to tell me for sure, like the vet or maybe some specialist? Only problem is I live in Wyoming, so finding a specialist could be hard. Any ideas? Thanks!

  1. Can you post a picture of her somewhere?  And then link us to it.  I believe Seattle is a Bengal owner and could probably advise you.

Chances are it's not though.  Purebred cats don't usually turn up anywhere by accident.

  2. go here. there are pictures to compare.

  3. Hi there... your kitten is a lovely domestic short hair brown tabby with marble markings.

Here are photos of marbel tabbies: http://images.google.com/images?um=1&hl=...

  4. A bengal is a very expensive exotic breed, running upwards of a 1000 bucks a pop. Your best bet is to bring her into a shelter or a vet, and have her scanned for a microchip. It's also likely that she's a stray that was looking for shelter. Poor thing. In the meantime make sure she eats and stays hydrated. :)

  5. The markings do look something like bengal, but since they are a fairly rare breed, I'm going to say that you have a run of the mill marble tabby cat. Marble markings are circular on a tabby as opposed to stripes, more like a tiger.

My stepkid's uncle just got a kitten that looks just like yours, along with his brother who is a tuxedo kitten (all black with a white face, chest and paws). Since they are 2 very different markings from the same litter, there is no chance that this kitten is a bengal.

All domestic cats are descended from wild cats. I can't remember what it's called, but there is a wild cat that looks just like a tabby cat--same size, color and markings. I want to say it's from South America, but I saw it on a nature show over 10 years ago and I can't remember.
