Who can I drive around with my New Jersey Provisional License?

I know I can drive around an unlimited number of family members, but every place I look says "plus 1 passenger that's not related to you". Does that mean if I just wanted to drive around that person I would need family members with me to do so? My stepdad says I can't drive my girlfriend anywhere unless there's a family member in the car. Thanks for whoever responds!

With a Provisional License, you can drive as many family members as you want. You can also drive only ONE other person who is NOT related to you. However, this does NOT mean that you need someone else with you who is related. You do have a curfew of 12am to 5am I think.. something like that. (so you can drive your girlfriend without your parents around, as long as you aren't driving at 12am).

I am not 100% sure since I don't have a license myself, but my sister has a NJ Provisional..
