its all about hydrogen i was hoping to get other process of separating hydrogen from oxygen such as electrolysis.

  1. water is supplemental to gasoline (petrol) or diesel fuel. However it is possible and VERY EASY to extract energy from water to run your car on water too

Everybody's talking about the power of Hydrogen. What they don't tell you is that Hydrogen vehicles with their pressurized hydrogen, and hydrogen gas stations - are a BIG safety hazard.

I don't expect you to believe in 100% watercars. You see, your belief level has to rise step by step. Free energy is hard to believe until it's actually happening under your own hood. Until you see it in your energy bills. In April 2006 I was skeptic too. I have been skeptic in 2007 that doubling the mileage was possible - until I actually made it happen in my own car. Now in 2008 I've been skeptical that triple the mileage can be achieved, until one of my readers, Gilbert B. from Missouri, USA, has tripled his truck's mileage from 7 MPG to 20 MPG.

  2. First you have to understand that fuel is just a method of storing energy chemically.  Whether it is fossil fuels, batteries, or H2 gas the energy must be put into the molecules before it can be taken out.  Oil is concentrated solar energy turned into chemical energy over millions of years.  H2+O is water with energy (usually electrical energy) added to break the chemical bonds.  When the atoms recombine they do so exothermically or, if in a fuel cell, electrically.

When you talk about the properties of fuel you are talking about its ability to store energy and release it later in a useable form.

  3. What you are actually doing is separating the hydrogen and oxygen molecules with a 12 volt dc current from your car's battery and that two gases is mixed with the air intake and then goes into the carburetor.  If done correctly will almost double your gas mileage.  You might have more water coming out of your exhaust.

  4. H2O is electricaly conductive :P

  5. Those schemes to make hydrogen in your car and then burn it to increase your gas mileage are scams.THEY WILL NOT WORK, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.  You will end up burning more gasoline and emitting more pollution.

  6. Why is everyone thinking of hydrogen as alternative fuel?  It is not the only type of alternative fuel.  Other types of fuel from water are in the form of steam and water propulsion.

  7. Hydrogen is not the answer . U would be riding a bomb around waiting for an accident. There are other ways of producing hydrogen besides electrolysis.

  8. "Fuel" is a bad word for hydrogen.  These hydrogen cars are in the end very fancy ways of using stored electricity (ok that is a little of a stretch).

So how it works:  You place metal in water, charge it up, the electricity flowing in the water breaks the hydrogen and oxygen bonds, then you get bubbles.  These bubbles contain separated hydrogen, you keep the whole container air tight, and the top layer of air in this container is your hydrogen.  You can then extract it off the top layer into another tank and there is your "fuel".

Extracting the hydrogen takes a lot of energy since you have to break the chemical bonds.

Using the hydrogen in a car, you simply expose a little of the hydrogen gas to air, and it will combine with the oxygen gas in the air to form water again and in the process you get a release of energy and an explosion (this can make transporting hydrogen dangerous).  Basically you replace the gasoline combustion with combining hydrogen and oxygen for a combustion-like process.

So why is this great?  Why is this bad?

Bad news is you get less energy out of the system than it took to separate the hydrogen in the first place.  You also use oxygen in the streets, and that's an effect people haven't considered a great deal either.

Good news is you can make your own home brew hydrogen extractor and never have to go to a gas station again.  Honda is creating their own hydrogen car (as many other companies are too), and are making their own home hydrogen kit:

Let me make sure I recap everything right:

"the properties of the water that can be used as alternate fuel instead of gasoline"

That would be the bond to two hydrogen atoms in an H2O molecule, breaking them and allowing them to reform, takes energy to break them, get some energy back when the reform.

Wikipedia has a nice link on electrolysis:
