  1. Hey! Did you mention putting the card into the computer? (LOL)

May be the card is locked. You will find a small button on the side of the card. Slide to lock or unlock. If this doesnt work, then it is corrupted. If the pics were important, then take them to a camera dealer. And buy a new card. A 1GB card costs 14$, 2GB 28$ and 4GB 56$.

  2. Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for:

You will need to use a card reader with this software. If you don't have one built into your computer, then get one, they're cheap:

Finally AFTER you've recovered the pictures you should format your card IN YOUR CAMERA.  Read the instruction manual to find how to do this.

  3. It sounds like the memory card is corrupt.

If you want to try and recover this photo, don't take any more photos with this card, don't reformat it.

Download the demo for PhotoRescue from http://datarescue.com/

If it finds your photos, you pay $30 for the full version. I know this seems like a lot, especially for only one or 2 photos, but you will then have the software for any future emergencies.

  4. Buy a new SanDisk Extreme III SD card (any size).  With it you get a free copy of SanDisk's RescuePro software on a mini CD.

Works like a charm.  I've receovered hundreds of shots with it.

I just bought a 2 Gig Extreme III for $34 at Best Buy. so I got not only an outstanding new card, but the RescuePro software too.
