Who can i contact for council house exchange from nottingham to south of ireland?

i have a large 3 bed semi detached house in sherwood nottingham.its not a council estate.its a much sought after location in nottingham,and would like a permanent exchange to the south of ireland to be near family

As Eire is a separate country from the UK, I guess you would have to place an advert in a paper that's local to the area you wish to move to. The link below will give you the names of all the Eire newpapers, firstly the nationals, then by area.  I wonder if you'll need to check with your local authority to ensure that it's OK to be swapping with someone from outside the UK?  The second link is to a website regarding house exchange - it may be helpful.

The sourth of Ireland is a whole different country.

Do you mean you want to sell here and buy there? Or do you want to find someone there that would like to move to Nottingham?

Second option will be extremely difficult. You would be better off selling here and buying there.

Try www.cche.co.uk for council exchanges. There's a forum for homes in Southern Ireland and I've read on there before that is it possible to do a direct swap. I'm not sure how you would go about it tho, maybe contact your council and ask in advance if it is possible.

There's also a national database for home swaps which your council can put you in touch with. I don't know if it stretches to Southern Ireland tho.

Have you tried going on the housing list in the areas you want to move to? You might be able to do a management move. Again, ask your council for help.
