  1. A physical anthropologist is a specialist in human bones.  They should be able to tell you if a bone is human or not, but probably not much more than that if it is not human (beyond some basics).

A zooarchaeologist, particularly one who works in the area and time your bone is from, will be usually be able to identify it taxonomically.

If you post a picture, I would be happy to take a look.  Your local museum probably can do a better job, however.

  2. Paleontologists are people who study fossils or remains of ancient animals.

  3. Bring to the city morgue maybe they can do it or decide who can do it for you.

  4. an archaeologist

  5. A Forensic Pathologist or Forensic Anthropologist can easily identify between the two types. Not only can they identify, but can also tell the approximate age too. For example, if you would find a deer jaw in the woods, just by looking at the teeth, I could tell you the approximate age. When deer are old, the teeth are worn down smooth and the animal no longer has the ability to chew food. Deer have several kinds of teeth.

If you suspect the bone is human, wrap in a plastic bag and take to law enforcement. Animal bones do not remain in the forest very long because the other animals eat them for the calcium.

  6. I can if you want me to. Send me a picture of it.
