  1. The Constitution doesn't say anything about the color of ink.

    In the old days, like 100 years ago, black ink was seen as not fading quickly.  Blue and other colors would fade in just a few years.  So since legal documents are archived for years & years, black was considered better. This was in a day when ink came in little jars that you dipped a pen into.

    And technically, it was not even black, it was 'blue black',  Meaning that as liquid it was blue, it looked blue when you wrote with it and turned black when it dried.

    Today there may be legal regulations that make a signature invalid if it's not in black ink.  But the validity should be based on the intention of the person who signed the document.  If the signature is still legible, it should be valid.
