Who can see me on a webcam??

Question

i was chatting with someone on yahoo messenger and i also have a webcam already installed onto my computer. I was wondering if the person with who you are chatting with can actually watch you on the webcam without you knowing that they are watching you, because i seriously do not know how these things work. And can someone please tell me how a webcam works on a computer and who can actually see me??

Heya!

Lets say you use...hmmm msn, you have to allow the program to access your webcam, or Give others access to your webcam, via the chat program it self.

There is no other way, unless they have managed to intrude on your pc.

well i know for a fact on yahoo messenger, you will see notifications on whether youre connected to the person. but on some websites such as stickam.com many people can see you, but you can make it private so that you choose who watches you.

i dont think so, you have to agree before the camera is activated, you will always know if your camera is on

You would need to invite then to view your webcam, or they could ask to view your cam.

I dont think there is anyway they could see you without you knowing.

click on messenger on top of your yahoo messenger,scroll down to privacy settings,click on web cam section,there you can set it to allow ev1 to see you without your permission,or allow some at all times,or got to have your permission to view,and there a another section on the privacy board, auto web cam,that's if you want it to broadcast when your in super web cam mode,i haven't used that area out,so i don';t know what to tell you about it

Here is the reason when you go online with your webcam then the other person can see that you have a webcam but they cant see your real live on the webcam just little icon next to your name.

But there is a software that these days hackers use they can scan any webcams that connected to the internet like msn messenger, yahoo or any chat lines but it takes time.

for someone to view you it has to be authorised by you and the other has to accept or deny, its a very secure network they would not be able to view you with you knowing

Hi,we all know that tech can go crazy at times but the reality of how stuff work are pretty straightforward - regarding your web-cam question, your  friend can only see you if you grant him the right by activating your webcam for he/she to view you. Apart from that anybody that have access to your webcam without your permission is simply known as a criminal or hacker.

When you are using Yahoo messenger your webcam remains inactive until you personally activate it yourself - Yahoo will never activate your webcam automatically. Assuming i am your friend and i would like to see you while chatting i will request your permission which you have the right to accept or ignore. Hope this info is useful
