I want to find some research because I am starting a project against socialism in America. I would like to see some of the things that made Europe socialist so I can hound the people who are pushing socialism in America and catch them red handed.

  2. What on earth makes you think Europe is 'socialist'?

  3. I am sure that you heard of Marx and Engels, but you might want to research the utopian socialists; Charles Fourier, Henri de Saint-Simon, and Robert Owen.

Socialism was originally thought to be a solution to the ills caused by the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution witnessed cheaper and more goods being produced, but it also created poverty and expansion between the rich and the poor.

Socialism--a stateless and classless society has never existed.  You can examine how state-run socialism tends to lead to poverty, erosion of individual liberty, and slavery (i.e. not owning the fruits of you labor).

  4. You really need to read several books.  Socialism started after the English Civil Wars when CharlesI was overthrown and later when Oliver Cromwell was overthrown.  Socialism also got it's biggest thrust after the French Revolution of 1789 when Robespierre took over and started to transform French society.  He was later beheaded because he wasn't doing enough for French workers.

  5. Easy, they copied ideas from our constitution and bill of rights.  The founders created the constitution on the idea of combining European capitalism with Iriquois Native American socialism to have a strong middle class -- a strong middle class guarantees democracy, For and By the People.

That being said almost every socialist program western european companies have were originally proposed here -- universal healthcare, social security, free college, etc.

    Several sources in link cited.

  6. Of course the irony of this question is that this "project" has been well underway for a century or more. Anyone with a sense of history knows that there have been several socialist movements in the US starting with the IWW in the early part of the 20th century, through the Union movements in the 30's, all the way up to the Socialist parties formed in the late 60's (SWP etc). All were without exception put down by methods that would have fit right in, in the USSR or today's China (Every heard of  Joe Hill, McCarthyism?).  I wonder is at the myopia of those who use fear "socialism" so much that they are only too willing to suspend freedom of expression and association so readily to repress it. Seems constitutional rights are only supposed to be exercised by those in power. If they value these rights so little what exactly are they defending?

    Other than there own privilege....
