Question:

Who cares about Silver and Bronze?

I've been looking at the medal count thing and some websites insist on using total medals count, totally ignoring the importance of Gold medals. This thing is just dumb, gold count should be used instead of the abomination most American websites are using. As a FYI, I used to watch the Olympics in another country and we always used gold count.

Maybe I guess Americans are born losers... Second place is the first loser. Just look at the Men's Gymnastics Team Final. While the U.S. team was jumping up and down with the Bronze the Japanese team was totally disappointed with their silver.

We Asians only strive to be the best. That's why China has twice as many gold as the U.S... And leads the medal count in 99% of the world. But hey, you still use miles and ounces and gallons here while 99% of the countries use SI units. Way to go, United States!

  1. It is a great accomplishment to even qualify for the Olympics let alone get a medal bit since you are only impressed with Gold Medals, the US holds the most gold medals of any other country since the Olympics started.

  2. Exactly, silver and bronze means nothing. The only reason we're getting more gold medals is because of Phelps. In fact, Korea is already catching up. So much for being the gold medal favorites. I'll never forget when we got our @$$es beat in the women's finale. That was such a debacle.

  3. China does, that's why they cheat and focus on games that aren't real sports, like ping pong and badminton.

When you Asians can come close to the US's 2000+ total Olympic medals, maybe you will be able to earn some legitimacy and respect (though by the time you get there, we'll probably have over 5,000).  Until then, enjoy your ping pong medals.

Here's something for you to take a look at if your government hasn't censored the site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-time_Ol...

  4. your a d**k... the people who are getting silver and bronze are the best..(second best) in the world.. wouldnt it suck if u won a barely got a silver metal and it didnt count for anything...

  5. You are a racist

You say Asians only strive for the best but isn't Mongolia, Japan, North and South Korea in these Olympic games also? What is their Gold Count? Is it less than the U.S.? What was China's in the Winter Games? If the United States and other Western countries suck so much how do you explain most other Asian Nations floundering success rate?

You sound like a fool. Nobody goes to the games hoping for a silver or bronze and getting there at all is better than what you have done all you do is make racist comments. You make people angry at asians which makes me mad as I am married to a Japanese and lived in Japan for a long time.

Add on: So you say China has less participants that is why they can't win as many golds. They have the largest population in the world by sheer numbers they should have the most participants unless they only enter ehat they think they can win gold. Do you think that is fair?

  6. The people who get them probably do. I'd rather go to the Olympics and win a bronze than sit at home watching TV and brag about other people getting golds.

Of course they look disappointed up there on TV after barely missing a gold medal. I promise you when they go home it's a lot different. Even the people who go home without medals carry a certain amount of pride.

All you are doing here is stirring anti-Asian sentiment, and embarrassing the rest of us Asians who aren't simpletons like yourself.

  7. Maybe because the US believes that it's not what color the medal is, it's the pride we felt in earning it, nor did we have to cheat to get it.

I don't care what country you're from, you need to grow up.

  8. No, YOU are an idiot. Most athletes feel lucky to be in the olympics, and winning something, either gold, silver, or bronze, is huge to them. Only the best of the best can compete in the olympics, and even though winning is very important, it's not everything, so you shouldn't rant about how unimportant you think silver and bronze medals are. I mean, it's better than last place.

  9. China takes little girls from their parents and starts training them from age 3.We're not about to go to such ridiculous lengths for a Gold medal.

Why don't you get out there and start winning some Golds? At least the Silver and Bronze medalists win SOMETHING,you do nothing.
