  1. no-one really, when you think of rugby people automaticly think of union its just an all round better game. So no cause no one will tune in to watch it they`ll just stay and watch the hiniken cup and the gunnes prem. Sorry i think its a great game but its just what happens.

  2. im from a league family so im a little passionate about the game and the international profile of it, but, a world club competition would be more beneficial to the world of league than having it country on country. The champions league setup for soccer should be adopted to promote the game a little more as there is realistically only 3 teams in the end that can win, unless the Samoans can sign their overseas players inc the kiwi ones. 3-4 teams from each country play during a season of say 6-8 months and build to a final. Its a great game that is easily understood and still has that untampered, barbarian grit that rugby union has lost.

  3. I've been watching the GB v NZ games and I've been impressed. As a Union fan I didn't think I would but I was pleasantly surprised. They are different games and should be enjoyed as such with none of this...'which is better?' garbage.

  4. i care because i live in st helens, home of THE greatest rugby league team in the world. it will increase awareness of the sport, hopefully in samoa, where some of the biggest most skillful players in union and league come from. the reason i say this is because i hope that they will watch to support england, as ew have maurie fa'asavalu, samoan, huge bulldozer of a guy, in the forwards. he is playing for us because samoa dont have a team and he plays in england, for st helens :D

also, if you are saying this because you prefer union they go away and watch tennis, its bout the same sport, only in tennis they use a raquet to hit the ball from one end to the other, not their feet.

  5. the rugby league world cup won't encourage the sport in countries outside of the big three as there is such a gulf in ability. You won't get the likes of Argentina or Fiji making upsets or getting far in the competition like you did with the union world cup. I don't think you'll see any of the minor nations getting closer than a 50 point defeat, which isn't going to get their fans back home interested in the sport.

The world cup is a smaller competition than the tri-nations despite having more countires. The only time there was a team outside of the big three that could win it was when the Welsh union players had gone to league but now that it looks like Wales aren't going to qualify, you haven't even got that extra support.

  6. The same question AGAIN.............????????

  7. I was in Paris for the WC this year and I think they did a wonderful job of promoting the game...

  8. afallon has a good point we should stop the prejudice as they are two separate sports and should be appreciated for what they both  are.cickey its sport for gods sake, not  which code is going to run the country! they are there for our enjoyment. and to top it all they are representing OUR countries is`nt that the whole point? SUPPORT YOUR Country then your code!!

  9. CHARLIE L shouldn't you be at school where you can learn a modicom of common sense, i'll not even retort to the can't tackle statement!!!

anyway i'm from a total rugby league community and if promoted right it will only improve the standing of the game.

i watch union(any sport really) and enjoy it but what you have to realise is they are 2 totally different sports, which can both be appreciated for the different skills involved.

and don't even start me on the fact that some teams have players from other countries playing for them, where are most of the kiwi r.u. players from??

  10. Lol the world has gone soft playing that union s**+.t. Its slow.soft and painfully boring 2 watch. Its probably got about 30 min of actual game time, its a joke.

The rest of the game involves various stoppages, such as penalties, lineouts or the ever exciting scrum and re-set scrum and re-set scrum. After any thrilling 2 or 3 min period of ball in play, the whole game is usually stopped for someone to lay on the ground getting a leg rub and their boots tied, for several mins. Playing one of these games a week is too taxing on the players, so they play as little rugby as possible in the lead up to a World Cup, to prepare for the 'finals'.

Rugby League is also an 80min game, however there are far less stoppages and the ball is in play for more like 70min. The game involves great impact in the tackle, followed by the ball being played and the game continuing, rather than a messy scrap involving many players leading to a penalty. The game is far faster and more free flowing and the main goal is to actually score points through tries, unique idea. Players can be interchanged to maintain the intensity and unless someone is seriously hurt, the ball is taken away and the game continues. It is not uncommon for top players to back up for their clubs 2 or 3 days after playing a rep game.

In summary league is fast and intense, whereas kick and clap is a sissy's game played by homo's

  11. Err... I didn't know rugby leauge had a world cup. Bugger- I thought I was getting the hang of this multi sport malarkey.

Edit: lol- I might not know anything about rugby leauge, but I do know that there is a difference. *pointedly not looking at other answerers* I'm only kidding honey!

  12. Club rugby is far superior now. There's a long way to go internationally but GB have pinched our coach ( leeds rhino fan ) so who knows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

However anything that keeps rugby league on the box and in the papers can't be bad.

  13. it will obviously promote the game internationally!! Wc is a great idea! im from st.helens so obv from a league background! League all the way!

  14. Always for rugby union. League is a touch boring for me - no doubt will be very interesting for many others - just my personal opinion.

If they cover the league WC live and show it internationally, rather than playing it out mysteriously like they always do, of course you can promote it.

However knowing the world rugby dons, it'd be another "secret" competition and tv rights would be granted to some obscure broadcaster.

  15. It was absolute rubbish last time around. Only NZ, France, England and Oz play the game to any decent level. No point in a WC at all. What are the bets that the final is Oz v England?

  16. I really want anything that will promote the sport to be out there, more people need to know about rugby, union is better but oh well it still isn't football and america should jump on it, its a great game

  17. i care.. and i only got into it recently..its a very underated game.... it should promote it as its becoming more popular

  18. To be honest. I don't care about rugby league at all. It's a load of rubbish compared to rugby union and no skill is involved at all. They just wriggle about and none of them can tackle.
