Depends on the scientists! There are plenty of unimportant scientists out there. Should we really listen to a chemist about physics, or should we listen to physicists?

The reason that skeptics care what Al Gore says is because people look to him as an authority.  Most proponents here such as yourself do listen to scientists, and can put up an decent argument.  Your average Joe who believes in Global Warming cannot name a single climate scientist, but they know who Al Gore is.  They quote all the lies in his movie as being factual.  Even in these forums, how many times have you seen someone quoting an Inconvenient Truth?  It is not ethical to exaggerate the truth or lie to get your point across.  Al Gore is a liar, but his former positions as VP and Senator give him credibility.  People listen to Al Gore, but dismiss scientists like William Gray.

Who has more credibility to you - A climate scientist who is the worlds foremost authority on Hurricane Forecasting or a politician with a degree in Government?

Obviously you will look to the scientist, but average Joe does not.

I'd consider myself an environmentalist.

I've been environmentally conscious since I was a little kid, before this sudden boom where it's cool to be "green".

But, I speak for myself when I say Gore is a t**t.

OK so I've seen Whats-his-face on TV and from what I've heard he has helped bring our world's plight out into the open although I think more credit needs to go to the brains behind the matter.  After all brains over looks.

It's mostly AGW deniers who care what Gore says, because he's an easy target.  Attacking Gore allows the deniers to ignore the scientific evidence.  All they have to do is talk about how there was an animated polar bear in Gore's film and BAM!  AGW is obviously a scam.

Yes, unbiased scientists say that global climate change is not induced by, nor can it be controlled by, man.  

Al Gore brought skewed scientific data to the publics attention in order to convince Americans to accept global taxes, lower living standards, and loss of national sovereignty.

So I agree.  Listen to science; not hucksters.

I honestly do feel sorry for Gore because I think he seems to be mentally ill.  As a scientist, I agree that it obviously doesn't make sense to listen to non-scientists about a scientific issue but it also doesn't make sense to listen to scientists on an obviously political issue.  Ask yourself how I could I be so sure of your political leanings  if AGW wasn't a political issue.
