Among the four categories of race reflected in UCR arrest data, 69.7 percent of persons arrested were white, 58.5 percent of persons arrested for violent crime were white, and 68.2 percent of persons arrested for property crime were white.

In 2006, 70.1 percent of all adults arrested were white, 27.6 percent were black, and the remaining percentage was of other races.

Of all persons arrested in the Nation’s cities during 2006, 67.0 percent were white, 30.5 were black, and the remainder were of other races.

In 2006, 55.2 percent of the persons arrested for violent crime and 66.6 percent of persons arrested for property crime were white.

Black persons made up 56.2 percent of all people arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter and 57.5 percent of all persons arrested for robbery.

Among all juveniles arrested, 65.8 percent were white.

Black juveniles comprised 53.3 percent of all juveniles arrested for violent crime, and white juveniles made up 65.5 percent of the juveniles arrested for property crime.

White juveniles accounted for 58.8 percent of the juveniles arrested for forcible rape and 53.5 percent of juveniles arrested for aggravated assault.

Black juveniles made up 60.9 percent and 67.7 percent of the juveniles arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter and robbery, respectively.

Real satistics are normalized over the population.  So the question would be, running into any random white, black, Native American, or asian, who would be most likely to commit a crime?

White people make up 80% to include hispanics.

Black people make up 12%.

Asians/Hawiians/ Pacific Islanders make up 2.9

Native Americans make up 0.8

others  3.9

So divide the crime rate by population and you get

7,117,040/80for whites=88,963

2,830,778/12 blacks=235,898

135,877/ .8 for Native American or Alaskan=169,846.25

105,996 /2.9for Asian/Pacific Islander=36,550.34

So White people are about twice as likely to be caught than Asian.

Blacks are about 2 1/2 times as likely to be caught than Whites.

Native American or Alaskan is twice as much likey to be caught than Blacks.

The FBI satistics do not conclusively say who is commiting the crime, it only shows who is being caught for crimes :)

CRIMINALS cause more crime.  

Just because somebody is not white doesn't mean they're more likely to commit crimes.  

The way I look at it, POVERTY causes people to commit crimes, out of desperation.  Non-Whites are more likely to be poor, thus the reason for the statistic.

Poverty and low socio-economic conditions cause crime, under your theories there would be no crime in 'white' countries e.g. Ireland, Russia etc. and that's not the fact !

causes or commits? Imagine it'll be whites since blacks only make up a small percentage of the population.

On a personal note, I live in the Mississippi Delta(close to 70% Black) and of the 7 or 8 times I've had items taken from me, 5 that I know of were by whites.
