  1. Aristotle Galileo then Newton.

They contributed much. Without getting into any detail (you look it up), Newton had said later in life - Here I stand on the shoulders of giants.

  2. The order was Aristotle, then Galileo, then Newton.

  3. 1st: Aristotle - Ancient Greek Philosopher, student of Plato and teacher of Alexander the Great.  He developed a Geocentric model of space, stating that everything in the solar system (and the universe, for that matter) revolved around Earth, based on Observation.

2nd: Galileo - Italian Astronomer, Decided that something was wrong about Aristotle's theories and tested out his ideas around Copernicus's ideas of a Heliocentric solar system.  When he proved Copernicus right, he published a book on the ideas.  He also had built a telescope of his own (not the first one, however), and turned it to the night sky to discover "ears" on saturn (Now known as rings), multiple stars that were never seen, and the four largest moons of Jupiter-a discovery that would get him into trouble with the church.

3rd. Newton - British Mathematician, Physicist, Astronomer, and much more, he was struck by a falling apple according to legend.  Whether or not that was true is debatable, but the supposed incident became inspiration for him.  He later deduced the apple fell due to a force we know today as "gravity," which is why objects such as loose apples fall to the ground.
