  1. Concrete is more prone to frost damage because it is inelastic, whereas asphalt will contract and expand and is much cheaper to repair because it is not a monolithic structure.


  2. Give back my cement roads,much longer lasting n cheaper up keep.

  3. Well, the first guy pretty much nailed it, but he left out one other reason. The coefficient of rubber and concrete is lower then the coefficient of friction between asphalt and rubber, meaning that when the asphalt is wet, it takes the tires less time to slow down when you jam on your breaks. Actually, I don't know if that is a reason, but maybe its just a coincidence, I would probably go with the fact that its cheaper initially and easier to maintain.  

  4. asphalt is much less expensive to install and maintain than concrete (cement is an ingredient in concrete).

  5. Asphalt is cheaper, provides for better traction and provides a smoother ride.
