Who could be the NFL Offensive Player of the Year? (Part 2)
He lit up the league with his amazing performance with an inadequate offensive line. He was picked in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft, picked number four overall.
After Brees went to the Saints, Rivers was named starter and led the team to a 14-2 season in his first year as a starter. He was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the 2004 Senior Bowl and was selected to the Pro Bowl four times, in 2006, 2008, 2009 and
2010.
However, this was the first Pro Bowl that he played in, missing two previous ones due to injury and not playing last year because of the birth of his child.
After only five starts as a professional, Rivers was compared to one of the greatest quarterbacks in American football history, Dan Marino, and was also named as the second best quarterback under the age of 25.
Rivers had one of his 12 fourth quarter comeback victories over the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in his fifth start of the 2006 season. In the 2010 season, he had the most passing yards in the entire NFL, 10 yards ahead of second
place Manning.
The Chargers had a disappointing 9-7 season and lost the AFC West crown for the first time in four years.
The number two pick? None other than Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Michael Vick.
Somehow, Vick started the season as a backup quarterback to starter Kevin Kolb but has become one of the most dynamic players in the NFL after taking over in the first game of the season.
No other player in the league did more for his team than Vick did for the Eagles. Vick is just a complete, all-around player, who can be safely called the most electrifying player in the NFL.
He is a different player than when he was a Pro Bowler with the Atlanta Falcons but wants to be with the Eagles for a long time and, hopefully, have a bright future there.
He is also a very good candidate, if not the best, for Comeback Player of the Year. This is the same guy, who spent 18 months in a federal prison for dog fighting charges and came back to the NFL to lead the Eagles to become the NFC East champions.
In his first start after being released from prison, Vick led the Eagles to a 28-3 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars with 291 passing yards and three touchdowns.
His most amazing performance this season comes in Week 10 against the Washington Redskins. He passed for 333 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for another 80 yards and two touchdowns.
On the first play of the game, he threw an 88 yard touchdown catch and run to DeSean Jackson. Obviously, the Eagles won that game, 59-28.  He became the first player to throw three touchdown passes and run for two more in the first half of the game, earning
his jersey a place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
This season, he has played in 12 games, having started in 11 of them, and has thrown for 3,018 yards stemming from 372 attempts, giving him a completion rating of 62.6%. His longest completed pass was for 91 yards and he has 21 passing touchdowns this season.
He has been sacked 34 times, has fumbled six times and intercepted six times.
