Who could be the NFL Offensive Player of the Year? (Part 3)
It’s not only his passing skills that are awesome. Take a look at his rushing record this season. 100 rushing attempts for 676 yards! That’s 6.8 yards per carry!
Compare him to the Eagles’ top rusher. LeSean McCoy has an average of 5.2 yards per carry from 1,080 yards but has made only seven rushing touchdowns. And saying ‘only’ means that Vick has more. More, as in nine rushing touchdowns by a quarterback!
In his nine years as a professional, the 2010 season was by far the best for vindictive Vick. He was selected to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time this year, having gone to the Pro Bowl previously with the Falcons in 2002, 2004 and 2005. In the 2010 Pro Bowl,
Vick attempted only ten passes, completing five of them for 59 yards.
The number one pick goes to New England Patriots’ quarterback, Tom Brady.
He has had 3,900 passing yards for 36 touchdowns and only four interceptions. He had a 111.0 season quarterback rating and, like Rivers, he did not have a dynamic playmaking receiving threat.
He threw for 3,900 yards from 492 attempts, giving him a completion percentage of 65.9. He has been sacked 25 times this season and has fumbled twice. Unlike Vick, Brady does not possess strong overall skills, having rushed for only 30 yards from 30 rushing
attempts for one touchdown.
Brady holds seven different NFL win records, 21 different touchdown records, three different completion records, and three different interception-free streak and interception percentage records.
What more is there to say about say about him than, 36 touchdowns with only four interceptions. That pretty much sums it all up right there. All season long, Brady has found ways to get the job done and has been tearing up defences all season long. And…
he has really nice hair.
Besides these five, there is one player that deserves praise for all that he’s done. For this, we go down to Chicago to see Matt Forte of the Chicago Bears. You may be thinking, “What’s so great about a 218 pound running back that has only 1,069 rushing
yards and six touchdowns?”
Well, it’s not so much about what he does, but more about the impact that he has on the Bears’ offense. To understand this, take a look at the Bears’ game against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. It looks as though he was carrying the
entire offense on his very capable shoulders.
He rushed 17 times for 70 yards, averaging 4.1 yards per carry. Ok, so that’s not so impressive. What about 10 receptions for 90 yards? A bit more, but not good enough.
Now take a look at the Bears’ offense as a whole during the game. The Bears had
only 301 total yards! That means that Forte made up for 160 yards of the 301 total yards made by the Bears! When a player has an impact on the team like that, you can tell that he’s a great player. Who knows, he might get better next year, along with
the rest of the Bears team.
