  1. I was intrigued by the question, so I browsed the internets!

I figured Disney would have their own costume department and make the costumes themselves.

I think I'm right, according to this link:

    http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/costumes.html

The article doesn't go indepth about the actual making of the costumes, but it mentions a Disney Costuming Division was started in the 1960s.

    edit: Bah, curse you jediknight!

  2. idk but thats a good question

  3. Wait their not real. some one makes them? why hasnt anyone told me i thought they were real!! thx a lot! jk!! idk who makes them! sry!

  4. prop dept  before you were able to see them being made  in mgm studios on one of there rides  i dont think it is open or u can go there it its the ride near  lights camra action

  5. Disney World has their own costume designers, pattern makers, etc. right on their own staff.  I found an interesting article for you if you are really curious.  With 50 square miles of land in central Florida, there is a lot of background stuff that you don't see unless it's available with a backlot tour.

  6. The regular costuming department does not handle character costumes.

Those are created by an entirely seperate costuming staff with seperate costumers and designers. These special costumers created the designs and create the costumes for all of the Disney Parks. Every park "purchases" the costumes from this department so that all parks are uniform in the look. The individual parks do not create the character costumes for their own individual parks. They do, however, maintenance their existing costumes and have their own seamstresses, milliners, etc... who handle the repairs. Some small pieces can be created internally but the majority comes from the main character costuming department.
