Am I the only crazy puppy in this great United Staes of America that sees a price in oil dropping to a mere $80 a barrel on the world Market?

Am I the only crazy puppy that believes that our technology in efficient fuel consumption is a lot better than the most of the world? Am I the only puppy that believes countries like China that has very poorly effecient technology on fuel consumption won't be able to hold out much longer in their manufacturing and paying for the exports that they will have to slow down their manufacturing and shipping exports soon? And this will bring an upset in supply and demand in the oil world and prices will plummet?

Am I the only Non-Doom and Gloom puppy left in this great country?

The price of oil will eventually level out.  Either one of two things will happen.

1.  There is a price that Americans will be unwilling to pay per gallon.  When big oil finds out what that is, we will be paying just below that.  They want to get the most out of us they can.  We are also being pressured by the Saudi's who do not like us.  You are also right about the price of oil dropping because of China, but what you are failing to consider is the ripple effect of this.  Welcome to Wal-Mart--born in Arkansas, made in China.  When Americans have to pay more at Wally's even though it has lessened at the pump, they will still be in hot water.  Except it will be poorly made clothing that they cannot afford.

2.  America will find a way to get energy for cheeper.  I have no idea how that might go down as there are many possibilities.  Ex.  Alternate energy sources/tapping reserves on home soil/stealing small foreign country with large oil supply and killing the natives.

I don't know about the price dropping that far anytime soon, but you make some interesting points about the relative ability of our economy to survive longer than others.

You consider yourself a sage, and so you need no bolstering in your illusions of your significance in the scheme of things, but reality has a tendency of invading even the delusional by breaking down the fallacies created in such a state. What you are suggesting would be absurd if not for the fact that you are not alone in your poverty of wisdom, and thus people who are superior are a minority. The truth, whether you can wrap your mind around it or not, is that we are dealing with supply and demand, and we demand more than is being supplied at present due to many factors, not least of which is that we are encumbered by environmentalists who prevent us from our own resources under the subterfuge of conservatism of our natural resources. By the time we correct this misguided take on nature, we will already have created alternative fuels, and the crisis will be over.

I'm non-doom and gloom also, but that's because I think oil has reached is peak and is depleting and then we'll be forced to implement more environmentally sustainable technology.
