  1. Pacquiao should win , the fight was closed, but the power shot downing Marquez in the 3rd. is a big factor. Period. Marquez was down 3 times before and was able to get away with  a draw, this time...... no.

  2. The 3rd round knockdown won Manny Pacquiao the fight.

  3. MANNY PACQUAIO. BECAUSE HE KNOCKED DOWN MARQUEZ ON 3RD ROUND AND THAT IS SUCH A THING, AND HE'S SIMPLY THE BEST. GO MANNY!!

  4. Manny, the Pacman deserves to be the champion. He has floored Marquez in the third round. He had good points earned in the following rounds. In their first fight Manny should have won the fight having floored Marquez in the first round.

If a third fight should follow it's up to Bob Arum, Manny's boxing promoter.

  5. manny "pacman" pacquaio

    because he's simply the best

  6. JMM deserves it no doubt about it, he did get knocked down in the 3rd but still outboxed manny. Also manny headbutted him because he knew marquez was not goin to stop.

Except boxing is a bussiness as much as it is a sport so you have to follow the money.

Pac man has a greater future ahead of him and a much larger fan base which means CASH MONEY. Next he will fight david diaz next for a title a divsion up.

Then after he wins that fight by knock out pac man will fight the Golden Boy himself.

This fight was also promoted by golden boy/top rank who are mannys promoters so they absolutely  are in favor of the pino.

So the only way pacman could have lost this fight would be by KO which was a slim chance. Either way big @ss paydays in his future,

                as for marquez

just another mexican that the white man robbed!!

  7. You knew who won so Manny deserves to be the champion, Marquez should have won on points but this is a professional boxing not amateur, judges look on power shots not on hits, the knockdown on 3rd round is a big factor which has lasting impression on judges. Manny's got hit a lot but it seems to have no affect on him and judges see that.

To P4P#1, was that an intentional headbutt?

  8. The bout, in my opinion, should have been a draw. But the knock down worked on the side of Manny. But people expected more from Manny that's why they thought otherwise.

  9. A true champion can't live by counterpunching alone. You gotta fight like a champ.

Pacman is a true champ. Worth every penny. That is why everyone pays to see him fight.

Everybody knows, for Marquez to win against Pacquiao, he has to KO the guy. He couldn't even manage to knock down Manny. In a close fight, that is all that matters. Pacquiao made him kiss the canvas 4 times in 24 rounds and probably even more had JMM not hanged on the rope when the round was almost over. That to me is crucial. Think about it. How can you gift Marquez the fight when the rounds are almost even. Each round could have gone the other way. But you get knocked down and get rattled a few times and brutally beaten, don't expect to win. The least you could expect is a draw just like the last one. Lucky Marquez got a draw the last time. Had the judge scored the 1st fight correctly in the 1st round, Pacquiao would have won and this fight would have not happened.

The true champion is the person wjho's doesn't wait and counterpunch. A champion brings the game to the opponent. That is why like Manny said "BUSINESS IS OVER".

Poor JMM, no more big payday. Back to $30,000 I guess. If Manny doesn't fight him again, which I think he won't anymore as there is no more reason to, both professionally and money wise, JMM will just fade away. The sad truth.

  10. In conventional boxing, the one who hits more wins the fight. Marquez should have won it using the old system. However, fight analysts look more into how is being more aggressive. Marquez, for the most part, waited for Pacquiao to come in. This is why he landed more. His streaks were awesome but were not as devstating as Manny's power punches. Hats off to Marquez's counter punching though but Manny found a way of landing the power punches. Manny won clearly.

  11. One way I'd like to answer this question is to imagine the two pugilists fighting indefinitely until one of them eventually goes down.  Hands down Pacquiao would win that fight without question.

Also, except for that round when Pacquiao suffered a cut (and even that Marquez failed to fully exploit, hitting him but not enough to really hurt him) there was no time when Pacquiao was really in danger.  In a close fight that tells a lot already on deciding who won.

In the end though, there were about 3 or so rounds that were too close to call.  But as I said, in a fight this close, I as a spectator would look at other factors.

    P.S.

Why doesn't anybody answer my question on how they scored each round?  That would make for a very interesting discussion to be sure.
