  1. I did.  It was an accident.  Sorry 'bout that.  I've been trying to keep a low profile...

I mean *cough*...I'm no market analyst, but the HUGE debt we're carrying and our insistence on mounting hugely expensive projects that we don't have cash for don't exactly make us, or our money, a good risk....

    Just a guess.

  2. I think it officially and publicly started with Northern Rock Bank in England in 2007.  After a run on the bank, the government and other sources tried to ensure people their money was safe, but to no avail.   The problem steamrolled from there....there were already problems in the US housing markets, but it wouldn't be felt until later.

I also think that the 'clever' people underestimated that strength of the European Union and the Euro.  They were so sure that the Euro would be a flop.  So you could also say that the problem started with the coining of the Euro.  For me, the pound is also history.  It won't be able to maintain its strength in the coming year, and England will also get sucked in.

  3. The Fed.  Deficit spending, and the dilution of the money supply.  The rebate stimulus will further destabilize the dollar.
