Who did ABC originally want for the role of Susan Mayer in Desperate Housewives?

Not Susan Mayer, I remember its some other Hollywood hotshot. Anyone know?

Courtney Cox was offered the role but said no because she was pregnant. They then offered it to Heather Locklear who also said no...i bet she wishes she had said yes.

I'm not sure who ABC wanted for Susan, but I read that they wanted Dana Delany who plays Katherine to play Bree instead of Macia Cross.
