What good boxers did he beat?

Please don't mention Ricky Hatton, Zab Judah, Castillo Twice- we all know that Mayweather lost their first fight.

Why do people consider him so good?

  1. Are you serious? As much smack as he talked the guy was great fighter. You must not be a real boxing fan if you say not to mention the above fighters, they are all of high quality and it's insane that you dismiss them like that . I'm sure your a Cotto fan, otherwise you wouldn't be posting such a stupid question.

  2. he beat um...  good opponents castillo, corrales, hernandez, chavez and.. thats it.  his legacy is pretty d**n weak and he ducked so many good fighters he could have fought. freitas, johnston, cassamayor, tyzulu, cotto and margarito.

i also thikn he lost to castillo in the first fight.

  3. This is so funny. I like schooling guy's on this question. Did Cotto fight those guy's you listed. Cotto has on his resume, Judah and Mosley. The other guy's was nobody and still gave Cotto problems. Quintana, please, he just got his butt TKO. He is a nobody and got his resume for fighting nobody. Cotto is just starting to put some top guy's on his resume. Hope he can get pass Margo. I know his fans are biting there nails on the Margo fight. If he wins that fight, Clottey or Williams will be next.

  4. Dude he beat a 7'2 500 lb giant named Big Show.

What more do you want from the guy?

  5. I also believe Mayweather is OVERATED and OVERHYPED

He has only beat Castillo ONCE. If you gave the first fight to Mayweather, then you must be in love with him, Seriously!!!

He beat Corrales, a very good fighter.

Jesus Chavez-he was good, NOT GREAT

    NOT even close to great.

And the other guys that you mentioned were about to retire.

    Floyd is OVERRATED !!!

  6. Mayweather like it or not has been one of the best boxers in the world for the last ten years. He has spend a decade without losing and without having a fight thats was even close. The Castillo fight was close and could have gone either way. Not to make excuses but he was moving up to lightweight and Castillo was a Champion in his prime. Floyd had injured his elbow in training and after the unoffical weigh in Castillo out weighed Floyd by 9 pounds over the limit. The first fight was close but in the rematch when he was healthy Castillo didnt even win more than 4 rounds so who has he fought you say?

Genaro Hernandez (WBC Featherweight Champion fought Dela Hoya and beat Azumah Nelson) Had 1 loss before Floyd.

Angel Manfredy ( IBF Featheweight Champion fought Diego Corrales) Had Two losses before Floyd.

Diego Corrales ( IBF,IBA,WBC champion in two differnt weight classes.) Undfeated Before fighting Floyd.

Jesus Chavez ( WBC Featherweight Champion fought Erik Morales) had 1 loss before fighting Floyd.

Victoriano Sosa ( WBC lightweight champion and he fought Miguel Cotto) Had 2 losses before fighing Floyd.

DeMarcus Corley ( WBO Jr Welterweight Champion and fought Miguel Cotto and Zab Judah and Junior Witter)  Had Two Losses before fighting Floyd

Arturo Gatti ( WBC Jr welterweight Champion) I am sure you know how he is. Gatti had 6 losses before fighting Floyd. However Gatti was on a winning streek he had Captured a world title and hadnt lost in his next 5 fights.

Sharmba Mitchell ( WBA WBC Jr welterweight Champion) Fought Paul WIlliams and Kostya Tszyu. He had four Losses before fighing Floyd.

People spend so much time crying about who he hasnt fought and dont look at who he has fought. All those guys were current world champions or Formor world champion when he fought them. However people still says that he fought bums and Easy fighters but their is no such thing as an easy fight with a world champion.

FLoyd has won titles in 5 differnt weight Classes and been a 6 time world champion. Two time fighter of the year by Ring Magazine. Top of the P4P list most of his career. He isnt the greatest but he is great.

What about Cotto ? So many fighters leave behind fights when they retire. Rocky Marciano left behind Sonny Liston and FLoyd Patterson. Lennox Lewis Left behind a rematch with V. Klitschko. Sugar Ray Leonard Left beind a Rematch with Haglar and Aaron Pryor. So too say he isnt this becasue he didnt fight Cotto is kind of silly. Right now its going to effect his legacy but later down the line people will forget about it.

  7. I'll mention Ricky Hatton and Diego Corrales because both were, at the time, undefeated champions when getting into the ring with Floyd.

Why do people consider him so good?  Because they understand that boxing is more than 2 guys butting heads and swinging wildly until someone bleeds then falls over.
