  1. Jimmy Carson, Martin Gelinas and $15 million cash.

  2. In addition to Jimmy Carson, Martin Gelinas, $15 million in cash and the Kings first round pick in 1989 (where the Oilers would have had Jason Miller, but traded that pick to the Devils and got Corey Foster instead. Didn't matter, they were both busts.

Oilers also got the Kings' first round picks in 1991 (Martin Rucinsky) and 1993 (Nick Stajduhar)

Had they done their homework and research, here are some of the other players available to them:

1989 = Olaf Kolzig, Adam Foote, Nicklas Lindstrom, Kris Draper, Sergei Federov

1991 = Ray Whitney, Zigmund Palffy, Sandis Ozolinch, Jozef Stumpel, Chris Osgood

1993 = Saku Koivu, Todd Bertuzzi, Jamie Langenburner, Brendan Morrison, Bryan McCabe

  3. The Oilers traded Gretzky, along with McSorley and Krushelnyski, to the Los Angeles Kings for Jimmy Carson, Martin Gelinas, $15 million in cash, and the Kings' first-round draft picks in 1989.

  4. Sean,

Oilers owner Peter Pocklington sent Gretzky, Marty McSorley and Mike Krushelnyski to the Kings for Jimmy Carson, Martin Gelinas, three first-round draft picks and, most importantly for Pocklington, $15 million.

    I hope this helps.

    Enjoy!
