Who discovered heat even existed? NOT THE COLOUR!

  1. Recognizing its existance, and knowing what it is are two different things. The ancient Greeks know about heat, but assumed is was substance, which they called Phologiston, that objects contained. The idea of heat being a form of energy in the form of microscopic kinetic motion evolved over time with the developement of thermodynamics.


  2. We've known it forever.  But we give joule the credit for quantifying the effects.
