  1. Genome unravelling is teamwork done by hundreds of researchers.  Publication of the initial sequencing was in 2001 in a paper called: Initial sequencing and analysis of the human genome, Nature, 409, p.860-921 authored by the Human Genome Sequencing Consortium.  The listed authors are:

    I'd refer to that as Lander ES et Al.  Of course, that was only the initial sequencing work, not the complete project.


  2. There were two human genome projects.  A private one was led by Craig Venter, and a publicly financed one was done by the Human Genome Consortium.  The U.S. leader was Francis Collins.
