Who do I call to report a dead body?

Hypothetically speaking, If I were to find a dead body, who do I call? 911 seems a little hysterical, he doesn't need an ambulance. I would assume the police if there were obvious wounds or signs of a struggle, but what about someone who is just dead, like they died there on the spot, without any help....The county coroner? The Funeral home? Does someone have to pronounce him? Is it illegal to turn around and go the other way, like nothing happened? Let me emphasize that this is hypothetical.

  1. The local donut shop! All the cops are there anyway and you'll get a quicker response!

  2. 1-900-MIXALOT

  3. Wheres the body?.........No, honestly you should call 911. The dispatcher knows the drill, or should. Dispatch will have you standby or at least gather all of your information. Usually the Police will be sent as well as an ambulance. Police will arrive first as usual, (unless its a fight or robbery, then the medics beat them) they will take precautionary measures not to disrupt any possible evidence of foul play. They will let the medics in to determine the person is DRT (dead right there) and they will leave the scene. Th offices are then obligated to conduct a thorough investigation of the scene. Once the investigation is complete, an OMI is contacted and the body is picked up. That answer your question?

  4. If it was me I would call the local university and sell it. A body is worth about 350k. There are places that buy bodies legally, you could make a fortune. You could get 20k just for a kidney.

  5. ghostbuster.

  6. yeah the police

  7. The cop shop..

  8. Dial 911.  Do not investigate whether there are signs of a struggle, etc.

Dial 911.  The police will arrive and secure the scene until the medical examiner (who works for the coroner) arrives.  They will then proceed depending on how the ME rules the death.

  9. 911. They won't be upset if you call for a dead body.

  10. 911.  the police and ambulance would have to come to confirm the person is dead and to process the scene.  a crime may have been commited.

  11. How do you know this realy a dead person??  911 for sure

  12. You need to call 911 and let them tell if he is dead, let them get clues from crime scene and please don't just walk away from it!

  13. 911.   Police.  Let them decide who is needed, medics, coroners,. etc.

What to do in a situation like this is all part of their training,.

The body  may be  laying face down with no visible signs of violence, but he may have been stabbed in the chest, only you cannot see it from the position the body is in.

  14. Call the local butcher shop!

    then 911

    first on scene wins!

  15. uh ok i find this weird that you are asking this kind of hypothetical question.. but yea definitely call 911

  16. You would need to still call the emergency crew (911).  They are the ones who indicate and call the people who can pronounce dead bodies.... It's a legal thing.  Those people get certified to do that.  Not even cops can do it.  So yeah, you need to call 911, no matter what.

  17. The local police number?

    Lol.

  18. look for identification and phone in the members of the family. If not, its better to call the police or a friend for help.

  19. definetly call the police. and tell its an emergency. tell them what you found. and let them call 911 if they see the need to do so.

  20. Better stay out of it. A man reported his wife had a seizure and fell while working in the kitchen and they arrested him and may charged him with murder. That is how so many get buried and they run. You just never know what some doofus might decide to do. Sherlock Holmes, they aint.
