Question:

Who do I need to contact about Traffic Light Programming?

There are several traffic lights on my morning commute that are just WAY OFF. I'm in the 4 lane (majority traffic) crossing a (2 lane) side road traffic light that is always 'RED' when there's NO traffic whatsoever. A couple of minutes pass before I get the green light, and when I DO, it's already changing before I can even get past it. The same thing happens on several lights I encounter. (I'm sure this is not ONLY happening to me) LOL

  1. Could be city, county or state depending on the designation of the road.  Visit your local city hall's planning department and ask, they'll know.  Most likely the responsible people will be in the same building.

Don't be bashful about showing up at city hall and asking questions.  It works pretty well.

  2. Easy to find out. On your day off shoot one out and wait to see who shows up to fix it and ask him.

  3. It depends on the jurisdiction of the road, but I'd start by calling your State's Department of Transportation.  If it's not theirs, it's probably the City and County where you live.  They'll let you know.
