Question:

Who do I report kids/infants without car seats to?

I was just pumping gas and I saw this elderly couple that had a few day old infant being held in the front seat. I thought maybe they were just in wal mart and needed to get gas and didn't want the baby in carseat that long. They weren't going to leave the parking lot.

Well then I saw the back seat didn't have anything that resembled a car seat. I was really shocked. How can someone do this with all the information we have today, whether they are old or not.

I feel horrible because I didn't go up to them and tell them something. I should have. Do i call 911 about this the next time i see it with the Liscense plate number and description.

I see kids that should be in some restraint jumping up and down in the back seat all the time . Even worse when they have t hem in the front seat and the kids can't see over the dashboard.

Who can I report these things to?

  1. Thank you for being so concerned :)

i recommend you take the license plate down and tell the police department.

  2. yes, call 911 and report it to the police and they can hopefully catch them immediately but if not they should issue them a citation anyway. if it's ever someone you know or know of you could also report them to child protective services.

  3. get the liscence plate number and call the police. thats about all you can do.

  4. I wouldn't call 911 as that should be reserved for an immediate emergency.  If you don't know the number to the local law enforcement, dial 411 and ask them.  Write down the make, model, colour and licence plate number of the vehicle and where and what time you saw this occur at.

As for the moron who claimed it's "natural selection"...the concept of natural selection does not even remotely involve babies riding unsecured in cars.  That was a completely asinine statement to make.  It's very obvious that you're not a parent and if you are then I pity your children.  The law is the law whether you like it or not and we as citizens do carry some responsibility to make sure that the law is upheld.

  5. Call your local police dept's non-emergency #.  In most places it is 311.  Give them a description of the car and license plate #.  It's so sad, I know!  What's worse is when I see people leave their kids in the car (I live in Vegas!!! It's 105 today!) while they go into places!  Now, if you see that, you call 911 right away because a baby can die like that!

    Very best wishes!

  6. get the tag,

pick up your cell and  press 9 then 1 and another 1...

..State Police this call is recorted what is the emergency...

  7. Good lord! It's called natural selection and too much governement control over our personal lives and choices.

Why do you personally feel inclined to act as the law? God bless the child, but we survived much worse things as children: Big wheels, dirt bikes, Tonka toy rides, skateboarding, rollerblading, etc...without helmets and without the laws being forced upon us to "protect us."

Isn't there enough fascism to deal with in the US today? Just let it go...

    Worry about your own...

  8. Get the license plate and call the police department.

  9. I agree.. get the tag # and call the police station, but NOT 911. I just saw a child the other day about 7 or 8 months old, standing in the middle of the front seat of a car. I was just in shock. It's not something that I'm used to seeing. Where we moved from, adults are routinely pulled over for seatbelt violations. They'd have a field day out here (or where you live)!

  10. as the frist poster suggested, get a license plate number and report them to your local police.

it disgusts me in this day and age that people still let their kids run around the car as if it were a jungle gym! there is NO excuse for it, there are even programs that give away a free car seat, h**l the last two kids i had the hospital GAVE me a free booster chair!

I'm extremely anal about car seats and boosters. my oldest kids stayed in boosters till they met the height and weight requirements for a lap/shoulder strap. sure they might have been embarrassed, but they were safe!

  11. Hello.Take down the car make and color and number plate, the direction they were heading and let the cops now.You may save a life.
