  1. th left tackle blocks the Defensive end its kind of a tough job but whre ever there is a tight end blocking he helps out in a running play. But on certain running plays you may pull out and block who ever for example on stretch plays or pitches.

  2. If you are left tackle here is who you block:

normally its the Right Defensive End

sometimes you could be facing a DT if the RE and DT switch when the play is snapped

You also face Line Backers, in this case you let your LG take your RE and you take on the LB(or it could be a CB, or a FS) and you do that always whenever there is somebody coming from your side and he's not a DE only when he is coming to your left.

and that's pretty much who you block if it's a passing play

now if its a running play your coach should tell you who your supposed to block on a run play.

    hope that helps you

  3. First off, it will get easier.

It depends on the play.  But if you're confused a simple rule is look for OIL (Opposite - the guy across from you, Inside - the defender in the gap between you and the ball, or Linebacker)

In the playbook I'm most familiar with (power I) if the play is to your side we had A, B, C, and Rule as the main choices in 8th grade and freshamn football the coach would usually call the block in JVs and varsity the tackles made the call most of the time.  A had the tackle and tight end double-team the defensive tackle, B had the tackle and tight end do a cross block or fold block with the tackle taking a step back and then hitting the defensive end, C had the tackle and tight end block down so the tackle would hit the linebacker and the guard would pull and block the end, Rule followed the OIL scheme I mentioned earlier.  If the play is away from you give the guy across from you a shot and look for someone to block downfield.

Another playbook I coached (Veer) had the lineman at the point of attack call for either man-to-man head-up, a doubleteam, or a fold block.

  4. Well your main responsibility is the Right Defensive End, the guy in front of you. But you are also responsible for the Defensive Tackle, the Right Linebacker, the Middle Linebacker, and the Safety if any of these just so happen to blitz you.
