Who do i contact? how will it work?

my husband wants to adopt my daughter. we moved from california to utah over a year ago. her bio. father is not on the birth certificate nor have i spoken to him since i was 5 months pregnant. my daughter is almost 4 years old now. who do i contact and how will it work?

same boat, only im not bio mother.  go to attorney (free consultations!) and they will run an ad in the newspaper of the fathers last known residence.  if he doesnt make contact a judge will terminate his rights, leaving ur daughter available to be adopted.  if he does make contact, he can either sign over his rights, or if he chooses not to, you will have to have a trial to terminate.  I'm goin thru almost the exact same thing now, so i know a bit about it.

You can contact any family lawyer for help. One thing to keep in mind though. They may have to contact the biological father. Some times this is done by posting a legal document in the local newspaper and then he would have so much time to respond. But that might not have to happen because he's not on the birth certificate.
