  1. Start with the insurance company, sometimes the doctor's office makes a mistake in filing the claim and have to refile it.

    Call your insurance company and ask about the situation, then call the doctor and explain what the insurance company is doing.

    I had a claim take 9  months to get paid because the doctor filed it wrong then the carrier processed it wrong.

  2. What's timely, in your book?  Most insurance companies take 3 - 6 months to pay a claim.

    If the insurance company can't help you out, and you don't have an agent to ask, your only other alternative is the insurance commissioner.

    But "timely" is in the eye of the beholder.
