I have a 20 gallon tank with one or two goldfish in it (fancy ones) almost every 3 months (or shorter) one dies and I hate it because I get REALLY attached to my fish.Do you think once a week water changes (25%) is too much? Is that why? I feed sinking food and will sometimes give them a cucumber or piece of spinach. I also use aquarium salt and water conditioner and I don't overdose. I only feed once a day. WHY DO THEY KEEP DIEING? I also have a filter bubbler and live plants

  1. um it could be the temperature they need cold water and they don't need aquarium salt. you should feed them twice a day.

  2. It could be a number of things... It could be the store you are getting them from, if you are getting them from the same pet shop... Water changes are perfect, goldfish can live a very very long time so it's not "it's time". Get a water test done, maybe there is copper in the water. Maybe there is pesticides on the spinach and cucumber that isn't totally getting washed away. Maybe your filter isn't up to par. Maybe the store you are getting the fancy goldfish from are defects or sick.

    Try starting fresh...

  3. aquarium salt is for saltwater fish and goldfish are freshwater fish thats why, also dont feed them people food just fish food. and cut back a little bit on the water changes they dont need it that often

  4. Well goldfish tend to die VERY VERY VERY FAST!  Because fish never live long and I don't think it's what you do because nobody can stop a fish from dying!
