Federer. He has won 12 grand slams and dominates everyone on all surfaces except  Nadal. Even though he is in a slump right now  you have to say Roger because he could possibly be the greatest ever.

Nadal crushes Federer on clay because Nadal has the perfect clay court game. But you can't say Nadal is better than Federer just because he wins on clay.

Roger...on all surfaces except clay against Rafa. Rafa has the majority of his titles on clay. Roger has his titles on many different surfaces - including clay. Roger has a more all-round game than Rafa. Roger can pretty much do it all on a tennis court (except beat Rafa at the French Open)...Rafa is based on brute force, Roger nowhere near as much.

For the past few years, after the French Open, Rafa has gone very quiet and has little or no other tournament wins until the clay season starts again. Roger wins all year round.

Sure Rafa had another superb clay season, however one cannot call him as good as Federer yet - not until he wins 12 majors and not until he wins at least two other majors that are not the French Open. He is improving and I am sure in the next year or two he will win a hard court slam, perhaps even Wimbledon as he has gone further there than at the Australian Open or US Open.

Federer. Just because Federer lost, it doesn't mean that he is worse. He had a bad day. Watch, the next time they play, Federer will make Nadal cry. Federer is the most hard working.

Rafael Nadal , World No.2 is not far behind and is constantly fighting for the No.1 position and he really has the capability to be as good as Federer,and is often referred to as the 'King of Clay'.

On a personal note , between the two , I would definitely choose Federer because he is such a great player ; world No.1 and yet is humble and shows no signs of arrogance.He is a living legend.We really are lucky to witness him play and win.
