As described in chapter 11 of the Book of Revelation.

Apparently they appear at the end of human history and do many miracles during what is called, "the Great Tribulation Period." - a period lasting some 42 months. (3 1/2 years)

  1. Tom and Jerry.

  2. Moses and Elijah

  3. We cannot know at this time who they'll be, since Scripture doesn't tell us.  The best we can do is guess.

Many people point toward Malachi 4:5-6 as proof that Elijah is one of the two witnesses:

5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet

Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.

           6 And he will turn

The hearts of the fathers to the children,

And the hearts of the children to their fathers,

Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

However, if you read these verses carefully, you'll notice two things:  1)  Elijah comes BEFORE the Tribulation begins (not at the time it begins, as alluded to in Rev. 11); and 2) the Jews (as a nation) will not listen to Elijah, because if they did, the earth would avoid the curse spoken of by God at the end of verse 6.  This "curse" is the Tribulation, which we know will happen.  Why will the people not listen to Elijah?  Because he will proclaim Yeshua (Jesus) to be the Messiah and thus try to heal the rift in Jewish families (per Mal. 4:6a) over Yeshua's Messiahship, as He explained at Matthew 10:34-36.

So again, we can only guess and can't really point to any Scriptural source that names them.  Having said that, my guess has always been Moses and Elijah, because they appeared at Yeshua's Transfiguration.

  4. Interesting as a man called Eliyahu has already been sited in Judea

Jerusalem & surrounds in sackcloth, by some people & there is a

    drought in Israel.

Now all we need is Moses to come & then the fun will begin, well

maybe it will not be such fun.

So my guess is Moses & Eliyahu.

  5. Not sure. But I can't wait to see them. That's gonna be so cool!! :D

  6. Remember,the tribulation period was shortened to 5 months,not 7 years!Matt.24:22,Mark 13:20,Rev.9:5,10.

I don't know who the witnesses will be but I believe there are 3 different people that would fit the bill.Elijah and Enoch haven't tasted a fleshly death cause God took them before they died in the flesh. But Moses was the one who gave the law to us from God so either 2 of the 3 would be my guess.

  7. Perhaps they are Enoch and Elijah because both were translated and never saw death.

  8. they represent those who have the hope of living in heaven.  The remaining of the 144,000

  9. Elijah and Enoch.

Both were taken up to Heaven-Enoch being translated, Elijah by chariot.

It is written that it is appointed for men to die but once, and after this, the judgment.

    These two never died.

So when they are sent back, they will, like it is written, be martyred.

    They must die.

And after the three days they will be raised.

  10. The Dispatching of the Two Witnesses:

These will be invulnerable men who will wear sackcloth and prophecy for 1,260 day (3 ½ years). Some believe it will be Moses and Elijah since both of their powers are very similar to the powers of the two witnesses. We know one of the witnesses shall be Elijah as written in:

    Malachi 4

5 "See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse."

    Their powers are the following:

    • Power to shut the sky, thus inhibit rain from coming

    • Power to turn waters into blood

    • Can execute as many plagues and torment as often as they wish

    • Breathe fire from their mouths to anyone who want to harm them; that is the way they must die

Many people will be saved during the GREAT TRIBULATIONS by the combined testimonies and effort of both the two witnesses and the 144,000 Jewish Evangelicals.

The Two Witnesses Assassinated and Resurrected:

The end of the 3 ½ years midpoint of the 7 year tribulations the invulnerability of the two witnesses shall be lifted and the Antichrist shall slay them both. For 3 ½ days their bodies lay. The inhabitants of the Earth see the death of the two witnesses and are so evil they refuse to bury their bodies and gloat over their death and even give gifts to each other!! At the end of the 3 ½ days a voice from heavens says, “Come”, and the two witnesses come to life, the inhabitants of the Earth are amazed and horrified by this and the two witnesses ascend into heaven via a cloud while their enemies looked on below. A great earthquake at that same hour shall ensue and 1/10 of the city is destroyed and 7,000 people are killed, those who survived terrified and gave glory to God in heaven, probably thanking God for sparing their lives.
