  1. Of course, I'm going to be biased, but learn from a certified instructor.  There are a lot of good players out there who may mean well, but may not necessarily understand how to teach what comes naturally to them.  Go to the BCA website to find a complete list of active and reserve instructors as well as certified training academies.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  2. Shooter is right, If your going to learn one on one from somebody make sure it is a certified instructor. They can get you on the right track . I've never had any lessons for anything but I imagine they teach proper mechanics , stroke , strategy and so forth. Only thing I can add is after all the lessons from the teacher try to play with the best players possible. Experience is the best teacher of all. Where's them racoons at Johnny? I got me a 9mm ...........nah , bad idea.

  3. You have to find the right instructor that can "depict" the shot in your mind....someone could be the best player in the world but just can't tell you how he does it.....I think I am just the opposite.....I can tell you how but do not execute as well.....my learning came from just playing and watching which have been mostly free.......I have spent some money in some of Bert Kinister's tape and highly recommend the 60 Minute Workout and the Advance 60 Minute Workout.....but the best thing is to learn these drills and then go and practice and practice until you can shoot them 6 -7 times in a row.....10! if you are really serious......like in baseball...you need to always be taking "grounders" well here you need to practice and drill until you get it down......the answer to the question is "YOU"....you may be getting into billiards late so remember that despite your age you are an "old dog" and you will have to learn some new tricks.......go to the tournaments.....watch...look ....listen....when you see something that you can't figure out how they did it....ask them after the match and about 99.9% of these guys will tell you what they did.......hope this helps some.....good luck on the tour!!

  4. learn it from a dictionary

  5. learn from your friends and see them carefully when they play you will become a good player like me

  6. Learn it from Stephen Henry.. Or whoever was a champ before.

  7. Better listen to Straight on this one!!

People mean well (but) im not a very good inst I can show you and tell you all day how to play and make shots . and you may not learn a thing because i cant explain what im talking about you may pick up a point or 2 but thats a long way from learning the game I would follow Straights advice then go from there.
