  1. I blame the criminals who stole them.

  2. What the h**l were the government doing sending high security document blanks in an insecure way? Likewise the lost data disks of a while ago, why were they out of the office in these days of electronic transfer? The government need to get a grip, or let someone else have a go.

  3. The government, they employed couriers with no sense of security

  4. Both equally. The government has again privatised a trasnsport department used for sending official mail. Outsourcing as they call it makes a mockery of security.

  5. the people that nicked them

i am a courier it must be awful for it to happen

  6. both ...  the govt. for not insisting on maximum security   And the couriers for sheer incompetence,   Stopping for a snack while working indeed.  Strictly  forbidden,   instant dismissal  The courier contract should be torn up   straight away

  7. Agree with Duffer.

I just can't understand the apathy within the Govt. Here are us law abiding citizens putting our trust in them (I don't trust them but I think you'll get my meaning) and they abuse it time and time again.

We've already had the attempted bomber working at the airport. Lost files found on buses and rubbish tips and now this!

If Govt files and documents (including passports) are to be transported then as far as I am concerned then they should only be transported by  specially trained and security cleared personnel.

Jeez you have to be interviewed and allsorts to get a legit passport nowadays yet they let a load go missing which will prob fall into the hands of terrorists :~(

Incidentally, mates hub is a trucker who has seen fake passports changing hands on a ferry, reported it to customs and was greeted with a shrug of the shoulders!

Really pees me off when I think that 22 years ago we were travelling back from Germany on leave from the army with a new baby in tow and they made us get out of the car and told hub to empty it so they could search it - took about 2 hours and my were they peed off when they found nothing except the stuff we needed like baby milk and accessories and clothes for us!!!!
