Question:

Who do you complain to when the manager is causing the problem?

Recently we went to eat at one of our local sit-down restaurants here in town. It's a nice Italian place; white linens, no booths, low lighting. There was a group of bikers at a long table who were not dressed appropriately to be there and were very loud. The general manager is married to one of them (I know who they are) so she was not only serving the heaping plates of food and filling them all with alcohol and had all of her attention on that particular table but she also didn't do anything about the noise level or the inappropriate language. I don't know who the owners are or how to contact them to complain. Any ideas?

  1. I would call the restaurant and ask to speak to the owner.  If they give you a hard time about it, try calling your local tax office to find out the name of the owner and how to get in contact with them.  Or try doing a search online for the restaurant information.  I would also suggest writing an annonymous letter marked private/confidential and send it directly to the restaurant, if there is no other way to get in contact with them.

Hopefully she doesn't open their mail !!!

  2. If they have more than one location, it would be a good idea call and ask to speak to someone in corporate. If they tell you that there are no corporate headquarters, contact the better business bureau or the state's food and beverage association and file a complaint. Works everytime!

  3. Visit www.mcdonalds.com and get the contact information for corporate.

  4. You could perhaps ask one of the waiters, very casually, who the owner is and how to get in touch with them. Possibly even ask to speak with them if they are there.

This kind of reminds me of Kitchen Nightmares. Always the Italian restaurants that have some problem with management.

  5. You can look up the name of the restaurant online.  Sometimes, a restaurant may have a website (which they have for customer information and for booking reservations online).  Also check your local news sites.  They often have reviews of various restaurants and may have the restaurant information you need.

If all else fails, call the restaurant and ask to speak with a manager or ask for a district or corporate telephone number if the restaurant is a national food chain.
