Who do you concider to be the best Welterweight in Boxing today; other than Mayweather?

Mayweather doesn't deserve to be in this conversation right now. He hasn't fought any of the top contenders in his own weight class. He's too busy trying to make the fastest buck instead of proving that he deserves to be concidered the pound for pound welterweight.

its clearly between the two best and most exciting in the sport, its miguel cotto from puerto rico and antonio margarito and on july 26 we'll no.  I personally think its gonna be antonio margarito and b/c he puts tons of pressure on throws 100's of punches a round, takes your best shots, BEST CHIN, and lands hard body punches and uppercuts and now that hes starting fast i dont think he can lose, altho cotto has a better shot at  mayweather, i think margarito will beat cotto and be the best, just my opinion

Right now, Miguel Cotto is by far the best welterweight but there are six exceptional contenders that I would place high in the divisional mix.

2. Shane Mosely

3. Paul Williams

4. Carlos Quintanna

5. Joshua Clottey

6. Andre Berto

Floyd has fought none of these men. The best true welterweights he has fought at that weight was Zab Judah who at best would be tanked somewhere between 11-15.

You are ignorant if you dont think he has fought top contenders.  All he fights are top contenders.  De La Hoya, Zab Judah, Baldomir, Gatti, Mitchell, mostly champions let alone contenders.  You must be on crack.

even though im a fan of margarito, i think cotto will be victorious in there fight...but i dont know weather there will be a cotto mayweather showdown...i think it will go pretty boy vs de la hoya....then the hitman will have a go in wembley then mayweather will retire, he has no more to prove...which will then lead the way for cotto to clean up the division..unfortunatly, hes not an a list celeb so i dont think h**l get a shot at maywether...sorry to go on a bit...but i think hes the best anyway

we will know following the margirito-cotto match. People keep throwing up that floyd is 39-0, but beaing undefeated doesn't determine how well you are.  mayweather is the champ at welterweight but if he doesn't fight the cotto-margarito winner he is going to technically stripped of his crown for not defending it against ranked welterweights.
