  1. AL: Madden of the Rays....really is there another candidate? Turned the door mat around, and against the 2 big money teams that had a dead lock on the division

NL: This one is way closer.  Tony LaRussa has done a great job with that line-up and that pitching staff.  But you have to look at the guy in Florida Fredi Gonzales.  That team was suppose to lose a 100 games.  When they got off to a fast start, it was writen off, and assumed they would fade.  I'm going to go with Gonzales on this one.

  2. lou pinella

  3. Hands down, Joe Maddon (and I'm a Red Sox fan). The guy has turned this team completely around. Amazing job he's done with these young guys.

  4. mike scioscia.not just because im an angel fan but he just makes the right calls at the right time.

  5. Angels manager Mike Scioscia.

Everyone forgets that the Angels didn't have John Lackey at the start of the season, and are still without Kelvim Escobar. Many "experts" predicted that the Angels would finish behind Seattle.

Imagine how good the Halos would be if they ever start hitting.

  6. Tony La Russa has done a great job, but you must also give consideration to Freddi Gonzalez of the Marlins. He has taken a team which was expected to lose 100 games and traded their ace and best hitter in the offseason and turned them into a contender. I would not have thought that possible.

  7. Mike Scioscia, silently winning games.  They are one of the least talked about teams, mainly because of them playing on the West Coast, and also ESPN's East Coast bias.  His team just plays ball everyday and flies under the radar.

  8. AL - Joe Maddon, just look at what Tampa Bay was for the past 10 years and compare it to now

NL - Tony LaRussa, this 2008 team has suffered 18 people on the disabled list, and half the talent it had when he went on to win the world series in 2006, yet they are putting together a great season.
