  1. who is going to beat him? same question was asked before the florida derby and before the kentucky derby. the answer...no one!!!

  2. No horse is a "for sure win".  Anything can happen, Big Brown could have a false start and break through the starting gate prematurely (I've never seen a horse win after a false start), he could stumble, or he could just have a bad day.

I don't see the point of betting a horse to win with Big Brown's odds, so I'm putting a few dollars on Icabad Crane to win.  I don't have any logical reason for betting Icabad Crane, except that I lose every time I bet against his jockey - Jeremy Rose.

  3. i will still bet on gayego

  4. Big Brown will be about 2/5 or 3/5 favorite in the Preakness not much value if you ask me.Gayego will have the best shot at knocking Big Brown off.I don't know if Gayego will win or not, but he will defiantly be in the money.

  5. There is no such thing as "a for sure win," but I think Big Brown is as close to that as one can wager in this years Preakness. I am definitely betting Big Brown, but I am also betting Gayego, Gayego being my favorite long shot.

    Two reasons.

First, going back 60 years to 1948 (and beyond), only 8 horses who won the Preakness did not run in the Kentucky Derby that year. Those were 1951 Bold, 1962 Greek Money, 1972 Bee Bee Bee, 1980 Codex, 1982 Aloma's Ruler, 1983 Deputed Testamony, 2000 Red Bullet, and 2006 Bernardini. Only 8 non-Kentucky Derby starters to win the Preakness in more than 60 years pretty much limits my favorites to the Kentucky Derby contenders among the Preakness starters, Big Brown and Gayego being the only two as of Tuesday.

Second, the fact that Gayego finished 17th in the Kentucky Derby, betting Gayego as my long shot favorite, for the same 8/60 reason, seems a natural offset bet in the event something happens to Big Brown and since many of the Kentucky Derby starters who went on to win the Preakness did not even finish in the money at the Kentucky Derby, and some of the Kentucky Derby starters who went on to win the Preakness finished way out of the money at the Kentucky Derby, such as Louis Quatorze, who finished 16th in the 1996 Kentucky Derby but then won the Preakness.

  6. You are not making any money wagering on Big Brown and I have a feeling this is a replay of Fusaichi Pegasus, a runner who was geared for the Kentucky Derby and whose trainer now must run him two weeks later.

Behindatthebar - had a nice work Sunday morning with Harlem Rocker at Belmont - and Kentucky Bear may be the places to look for contenders who may just end the Triple Crown talk until 2009.

  7. Preakness Day is a great festival.  Big Brown could be 2-1 in the Preakness Stakes.  There is a holiday spirit in Baltimore.  Some wagers will have a local bias. It is probably the best party of the "Triple Crown".  Baltimore fans are very regular.  VIPs and $2 bettors rub shoulders and have fun.  The Infield is awesome.

  8. nothing is for sure...big brown looks awful good...its his to lose...

  9. BIG BROWN!

  10. Not a triple crown winner, and wouldnt take it as a banker either!

  11. I wish we did

and you can say I was wrong

But I think a LONG SHOT WILL ONE OF THE LAST 2 RACES LEFT ??

    GOOD LUCK BIG BROWN???
