My friends daughter is a drug addict and is prescribed 150 Zanax and 120 perks each month. Only she takes them all in the first week with her boyfriend. Last night the boyfriend almost die (actually he did die they brought him back twice). Her parents have asked the doctors office time and time again not to prescribe her these prescriptions because she is a drug addict but he has ignore their request and has refused to schedule an appointment with the parents. There seems to be no help for a situation like this in Pennsylvania.

  1. Well, if the child is an adult, the doctor is NOT under any legal obligation to do as the parents request.

However, that is not good.  I would contact the AMA and the state medical licensing board.

  2. This situation would fall under 'non-therapeutic prescribing of medication' and is considered malpractice. Contact the State Board of Medical Examiners and file a complaint. You will need solid proof that you informed him of the drug abuse and overdoses and that he continued to prescribe the medications, I would recommend sending a registered letter.

The Police and AMA will do nothing about this so don't bother.

  3. The AMA.

  4. I stay in Indiana county, alot..  and they will get pills wherever they want anyways..  There has been alot of Xanax overdoses around here..  If she isnt underage, her parents can not tell the doctor what to do..

if you think she might od or something,  you could call the doctor after you know that she has done all of her pills and tell the doctor what she did, and tell the doc to call her in for a bottle check if he doesnt believe you.. tell him that her and her boyfriend are doing all of them..

rehab does not work..maybe she needs to go to the methadone clinic.. i have been clean for six years and i am 25 years old.  i was addicted to oxycotins and i get drug tested once to twice a month now and i pay $13.75 a day for the last past six years and i am still going to the clinic..  but most of the time.. rehab doesnt work.. but methadone will do better, in my opinion.. i live in west virginia , but stay in PA alot, cause my boyfriend is a boss on a drilling rig and we travel alot cause he is from PA.  but i know of a few clinics in PA.

But i hope everything works out and good luck to your friend, because i know it has to be hard for her..

  5. It depends if she is is underage or not. If she is an adult she can basically kill herself if she wants, although that is so sad. Try contacting drug helplines or support groups. You can also ask the police what to do, though they might want to arrest her for supplying her boyfriend.

  6. oh just tell the police because he will get his license yanked for what he is doing and she will get arrested for giving prescribed drugs to her boyfriend who is not prescribed...I am sure if you read the bottle it says it is a Federal crime They can also report her to the pharmacy who will contact the police themselves...just because she is an addict she is still violating the law
