Question:

Who do you report suspected child abuse to?

A babysitter in my neighborhood watched my children for a total of five days. I decided not to take them back because they complained about how mean she was to them from day one. On the final day my five year old claimed she held him down by the throat and kicked him in his stomach with her knee all because he woke up his brother. I reported this to social services and got a letter stating they were going to take no action. I recently found out that another person may be suing her for suspected mistreatment of that person's children. Should I try to report my complaints to the sheriff's dept or state police even though this was three weeks ago since social services isn't going to look into it?

  1. I would definately report it.  Even if they can't do anything about it, the fact that it is on paper may be helpful if in the future if they have another complaint on her.

  2. Yes, go to the police and file an offical report today! Take pictures of any bruises that your children suffer from. Do also take your children with you because the police will probably want to interview them. The sooner the better. You don't want to wait until she actually seriously hurts a child or baby

  3. Absolutely!!!  You should have called the police first.  and if your kid had any marks from what the babysitter did you should have gone straight to the hospital to have it documented.  Social Services really has nothing to do with it because it is not her children she is hurting.
